How To Not Fail In Business

Entrepreneurship Is The Solution To Everything In This World

We need stronger entrepreneurs, we need more savages in business, we need more people who are going to carve a new world, we need people who aren’t hiding everything they’re doing and lying about the few things that work, and we need entrepreneurship to be a brotherhood and sisterhood or a fraternity of people who are all in the grind and growing and pulling each other up.

Because at that moment, when everyone is growing, our economy immediately grows, bad political decisions don’t affect us as much, employment rates go up, and people begin to understand how to actually CONTRIBUTE, so there’s no more of this "it’s all about me" bullshit.

Entrepreneurship is the solution to everything in this world, but it goes deeper than that.

To thrive in today’s messed-up world of 16-year-old influencers making millions of dollars because they go on social media and jump around in a bikini all day.

To thrive in a world where fart videos make more money through YouTube monetization than an educational video.

To thrive in a world where you have to constantly stay on top of your team to get the most basic tasks done, rather than focusing on what you need to do so your company can actually grow,

To thrive in the kind of world that we are in right now, we need to be better, stronger, and far more effective entrepreneurs.

We need to have our act together in business, we need to have strong relationships in our lives, and we need to be healthy both mentally and physically.

I get asked almost every day what I do to perform the way I do. When most people hear how old I am, they’re blown away. Because at first glance I look a lot younger...

But if they just sat there and did the damn math, because I’ve been very clear that I was in the health club industry for close to 15 years, and then I had a TV show for years, I’ve written books, I built a portfolio of companies over the past 30 years, and I’ve been in the venture capital field now for almost 20 years now, and Emily’s been an assistant to me for over 19 years, and the laundry list of things I have built in the past 30 years goes on and on; if they just sat there and did the math, they have to have at least thought, "Well, this guy must be older than 30 or 40." Or he must’ve freaking started when I was five years old.

And that’s because I take care of myself.

There are strategies for growing your business in a way that gives you the time and the mental bandwidth to lead an EXTRAORDINARY life, to take care of your health, and to spend time with the people you love and cherish.

I’ll do more for the people I love than almost anything else in life.

Second to that is my health, and then comes business.

The great majority of entrepreneurs put business first, but when you do that, there’s always something missing that would make you significantly happier if you had more of it, and the solution to that is ALWAYS to get your sh*t together, and for most people, that includes taking charge of your mental and physical health.

This World Needs People Who Are Going To Grow Something Massive.

It needs entrepreneurs who understand how to grow:

-REVENUE

-MARGIN

-The number of people that they REACH with their message

-Their personal wealth

-Their health

...so, they can lead by example and build a team under them who share the same values.

Because the values that grow a healthy, strong entrepreneur spread like a virus and change the world in a positive way.

Most people will probably start by changing the world inside their business, then the world in their community, then their town, and finally the world in their state.

But we need alphas who are going to take charge of more than just their businesses, they need to take charge of their lives.

That’s the future I want to live in.

Growing A Business That Can Support All Of This

There are obviously a lot of parts to growing a highly profitable company.

One that you're proud of and one that supports your life, your retirement, your kids' college funds, and maybe a savings fund for your grandkids.

Or if you’re too young to care about any of that stuff. At the very least, it benefits you, your health, and your desire to live an extraordinary life.

Now when I go into a company, it’s in one of four positions: as an owner, a partner, an investor, or an advisor.

And there are a handful of things that we do or levers that I pull that predictably scale companies in a big way.

In our venture capital firm, we have made over 100 successful investments, and in CLUB 28, which is my advisory program where I work with a handful of companies one day each week, the average growth of those companies exceeded 210% this past year and over 200% last year.

I could go back over the last 11 years (or so) since I started Club 28, and we have consistent growth like that every single year for almost EVERY company that gets into that with me.

And that's because there are a few things that, when implemented in a company, make a significant difference in their revenue, margin, company culture, and ability to reach and touch significantly more people with their products and services, usually with far less effort.

And we obviously don’t have time to go deep into each of these levers, but just know that no matter what stage of growth you’re at, no matter what industry you’re in or what the economy is doing, there’s going to be a few businesses that consistently grow.

And those companies are led by entrepreneurs who work together with other great entrepreneurs, and who put their heads down and their blinders on, so they don’t get distracted and stay focused on the few actions that really drive growth.

So, every day, you need to ask yourself, "Do I have my sh*t together?" And if not, why not?

Fix yourself and be the kind of leader who inspires others.
