How to Facilitate 4-5 teams working on one Backlog?

Here is a Mini Blog/ Q&A based on another question that came up on my courses and Meetups in Riga, Berlin & Munich, and after my famous post  Why should you attend the next LeSS Training in your area, that I promised to answer ...So here we Go.... Great Question ..

Q: How to Facilitate 4-5 teams working on one Backlog?

A: In my opinion there is no difference between 1,2,3,4,5 or even more teams.

The scrum principle of working according to priority is easily applied to multi team groups.

Here is a simplified description of how to do it:

- PO makes sure the backlog is always prioritized.

- Teams refine the “candidate” backlog items according to that priority.

- Team own and plan together how to create the next increment of the product focusing on priority and collaboration.

- Avoid all external roles aimed at cross team synchronization and let the teams own it.

- Integrate early and continuously.
