Copper ore is associated with different mineral components. In addition to considering the recovery of copper ores, it also needs to comprehensively recover the associated minerals, which has brought great effect to the formulation of ore processing process. Among the associated minerals of copper ore, cobalt is a relatively common one.?
In recent years, with the large-scale development of copper-cobalt ore resources, scholars have carried out a lot of research work on copper-cobalt beneficiation process. The process mainly consists of two stages: crushing-grinding process and beneficiation process.
Crushing and Grinding Process:
The crushing and grinding process is a key part in copper-cobalt ore beneficiation process. Considering the properties of ore, natural conditions and production stability, many concentrators generally adopt the coarse crushing—— semi-autogenous grinding—— ball milling——stubborn stone crushing process in this part. Among them, the last part can be whether set up ro not according to factors such as mine scale, ore hardness and grinding ability.
This process has the following main advantages: First, only one section of coarse crushing is required, less equipments are required, and faults such as equipment blockage are not easy to occur during production; Second, the operation and management are simple, less personnel, and the labor cost is low; Third, at the semi-autogenous grinding stage, ore is mainly used as the medium, and the consumption of liners and steel balls is less. At present, this crushing and grinding process is widely used in many newly-built concentrators of copper-cobalt mines.
Beneficiation Process:
In order to rationally utilize copper-cobalt ore resources, increase the metal recovery rate, and reduce the investment and operating costs, researchers have carried out a lot of experimental work, and copper-cobalt processing tech has been continuously improved. The more typical separating processes adopt in recent large-scale mining projects are as follows:
Single Flotation Process:
The single flotation process is separating sulfide cooper ore first and then oxidized one. The specific process is as follows: the sulfide ore flotation in the early stage contains one roughing separating, one sweeping, one coarse concentrate separating, tailings fine sweeping to obtain sulphided copper-cobalt concentrate; the oxidized ore flotation process contains one roughing separating, secondary sweeping and secondary fine separating to obtain copper and cobalt concentrate.
When the raw ore is processed in the later stage, the main equipment and structure of the process are basically unchanged, and only the flotation operation needs to be adjusted to the two-coarse separating and three-sweeping, flotation column separating, and tailings fine-sweeping process. The chemicals used in this part include sodium silicate, sodium hydrosulfide, ethyl xanthate, etc.
Flotation-Tailings Magnetic Separation Process:
Copper-cobalt coarse concentrate is firstly separated out. Copper sulfide flotation consists of secondary roughing separating, one sweeping, regrinding of coarse concentrate and five times fine separating to obtain copper sulfide concentrate. And then tailings enter the next flotation stage, and the copper oxide flotation process contains one roughing separating, one sweeping, and three times fine separating to obtain copper oxide concentrate. Copper oxide tailings are first subjected to wet weak magnetic separation to remove impurities, and then undergo rough and fine magnetic separation to obtain copper and cobalt concentrates.

Decarburization-Flotation-Tailings Magnetic Separation Process:
In order to achieve the purpose of enriching copper and cobalt minerals, gangue components such as SiO? need to be reduced. In addition, organic carbon with strong buoyancy contained in copper ore occupies a large proportion, which will not only increase the amount of flotation reagents, and also has a great side effect on the flotation index of useful minerals. So decarburization treatment is required in advance.
The specific separation process is as follows: the pulp is decarbonized first, and the sulfide ore flotation is divided into one roughing separating, secondary sweeping, and three times fine separating to obtain copper and cobalt sulfide concentrate. Copper-cobalt oxide concentrate is obtained through one roughing separating, one sweeping and three times fine separating, and at last copper-cobalt concentrate is gained through one roughing separating, one sweeping and strong magnetic separating operating. Experimental studies have proved that this process can greatly reduce the gangue content under the premise of ensuring the copper recovery rate, thereby reducing operating costs of subsequent operations.
There are many different types of copper-cobalt minerals, and its embedding states?are complicated. Formulating a suitable beneficiation process for different copper-cobalt ores is of great significance to adapt to improve resource utilization, and reduce investment and production costs.
