How Experiments Can Make You Productive

I’ve been struggling to be more productive at home because afternoons in a tropical country are quite hot. I don’t have AC. All I have is a small cooling fan. And to make matters worse, I sweat easily. I sweat even after a shower. It’s supposed to be the cold season here in the Philippines but it’s still very hot. I’ve always wondered how my Aunt thrives without a fan. Is it inborn? Or is it something that my body can adapt to?
And then there’s One Punch Man. Most of you anime fans know the secret how he became so strong, 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats and a 10km run everyday. But what people forget is that he also stated that he endured the heat of every single day without an electric fan. So yeah, as stupid as it may seem, I went on to experiment how I would fair without an electric fan.
Day 1
I sweat so much that I had to turn my electric fan on after about 30 mins. I drank a lot of ice cold water after.
Day 2
I tried to endure longer than 30 mins and decided to at least try an hour of no electric fan. I feel like I cheated because I had a pitcher of ice cold water with me during the ordeal.
Day 3
I changed my strategy. I felt guilty for using ice cold water. This time, I battled the heat through mind conditioning. I focused on doing work while telling myself that it wasn’t hot. I struggled in the first few minutes but as the time went by, I noticed that I was able to focus more on work and less on conditioning my mind that it isn’t hot. I continued to progress and the next thing I know, it was already 2 hours! I had to go out to do some errands so I had to forego the experiment for the next day.
Day 4
I continued the no ice cold pitcher experiment, no electric fan routine. Guess what? I managed to stay without a fan for a straight 3 hours until it was snack time. I did sweat a lot again once I stood up to look for a snack. I had to turn the electric fan on because I was sweating profusely.
The next few days, I didn’t need the electric fan anymore. As long as I didn’t rest my back on something I didn’t sweat. The moment I rest my back on something is the time I sweat. I will continue to experiment more.
Thank you One Punch Man!
Maybe I should follow his exercise routine next? Haha.
We're gonna have to forego that experiment for next time.
