This sucks! There I said it.
Have you ever stopped to think about how this year has gone? All the things we've had to navigate and work through. Is it me, or does it seem like that exact moment, when you think there's a light at the end of the tunnel, it gets strangely more dark?
Today the Stock Market dropped 800 points because of a new record high in Covid19 cases. Wait. I thought we were coming out of this.
Whether we're dealing with uncomfortable masks, social distancing, being cut-off from our family and friends, unemployment concerns, repression looming, chaos over toilet and paper towels, political turmoil, etc., all of these things can have a strain on us mentally and emotionally. Sometimes we just need a hug, right? Except, it's hard to do that from 6 feet away. I know. It's a lot.
How then, do we navigate it all?
Most people have had some experience or experiences in their life that has marked them emotionally. They feel the fear, the anger, the frustration, the helplessness, and the anxiety, from external conditions they feel they have no control over.
If these emotions are rehearsed enough times, through thinking about it, talking about it, being commented on by others, it then becomes a state of being. It becomes our identity. It becomes who we are. Now we’re depressed. Now we’re experiencing panic attacks. Now we’re being prescribed anxiety medication. Now, we can’t be in large crowds before we start hyperventilating.
Once we think certain thoughts or the environment triggers certain circuits in the brain to turn on insecurity, depression, anxiety, fear, etc; chemicals called neuropeptides are released into the body that turns the body on to 'feel' what you were once 'thinking'. And the moment we ‘feel’ depressed, the body sends a signal to the brain, through the spinal cord, requesting more chemicals consistent with depression. This both alerts and activates the brain to begin to think MORE thoughts consistent with depression in order to satisfy the body’s hunger for more chemicals. You are now in a mental and emotional feedback loop, that you’re not even aware of it.
The more consistent the repetition of these cyclical experiences, the more 'over time' the body becomes conditioned to the subconscious programming of depression. Meaning it can turn on without you being consciously aware of it.
Now we’re owning it. "I AM depressed". "I AM insecure". "I AM anxious". It has become our very identity. It is not "I’m experiencing or I’m aware of the emotion of depression, or insecurity, or anxiety". We own it as our identity. "I AM unhappy". "I AM a failure". We make it our very identity and we acclimate the body for that emotion to be our normal.
The problem with acclimating the body to this emotion is that this not only becomes what’s feels normal to the body but also what feels good…what feels right. And we become addicted to the emotion looking for and creating experiences that will feed the body’s hunger for that specific chemical experience.
The challenge becomes, can we see ourselves greater than the political landscape, greater than a stimulus check, greater than a job loss, greater than a decline in business, greater than our past, greater than what you're experiencing in our relationships, with all of the subsequent thoughts and emotions that would accompany that? Can you rehearse your desired future with the same degree of passion, repetition, and consistency that it literally rewires your brain for THAT experience? Can we condition the body in the emotional joy of that 'preferred experience' so much so that the body believes that it has already occurred?
As a manifestation coach, I work with people all day long who are stuck in some mental/emotional feedback loop. People who say yes to others, but rarely listen to their own needs, wants, and desires. In being influenced by their environment, they often lack energy, passion, and the ability to show their true colors. I help them detach their identity from some unhealthy experience and see themselves as greater than where they are. I help them think outside of the box of their everyday life, get to know themselves better, and focus on the truth of what they really want.
People like Wesley, an already successful entrepreneur, who reached out to me anxious. She was not attracting income at the rate she was before and her emotions were causing her to think and feel equal to her experience. She could only see her limitation, her self-talk supported this view, and this was being expressed in her body language.
I had a single session with Wesley on something I call the 'TRIAD'. She sent this to me afterward:
"James!! Wth!?! I can’t believe what just happened!!! After our call at the beginning of the month where you helped me to identify the emotional blocks, I really decided to dig deep, focus on changing my physiology, and put my intentions out there. I felt the shift last week of feeling worthy even if/when my account didn’t reflect what I wanted it to... then this morning I woke up to $1,000 in my account that I TRULY did not expect!! I had to call my bank to find out where it was from!!! Turns out I qualified for some grant I don’t even remember applying for!! WHAT THE HELL!! This is amazing! Thank you a thousand times!!"
Wesley, went on to manifest $30k in just 12 days.
The more you can begin to rehearse what this new you and desired outcome is going to look like and consistently, as much as you can, step into this new version of you and see life with ‘their’ eyes, speak ‘their’ words, understand with ‘their’ thoughts, move to their rhythm, the more you fuse into one and the more life opens up to you to give you its gifts.
Ultimately, becoming whole requires breaking the model of the old self and re-inventing a new self.
New realities require new personalities.
