How to experience 2 adventures local to you for under $100

How to experience 2 adventures local to you for under $100

While the word "adventure" usually means travel to another continent, this weekend I stayed local and took advantage of all the adventure my home town of New York City offers. By the end of this thread, you will learn

  1. How to meet new people in a way you haven't before
  2. How to support musical artists in a way you haven't before
  3. How to mix culture with networking
  4. Have a global adventure, without leaving your home town

Let's go!

Adventure #1 Sofar Sounds

Friday night's adventure took us to a secret concert in a private home in Brooklyn.

Sofar is a global movement to showcase musical artists for a small community each night.

Here’s how it works?

?? You buy a ticket at www.Sofarsounds.com. We bought 8 last night to celebrate a birthday. $28.00 a ticket.

??36 hours before event date, they reveal the location. It could be a museum, a rooftop— or like Friday night, someone’s private home.

?? You bring your own beverages. We brought bourbon, wine and birthday cake macarons.?

???Three amazing artists dazzle you with their talent. We got to hear vocalist Shilo Gold, featured on The Voice, beat boxer Eddie Flannigan, and singer songwriter Ra Le Bu?

When the host asked the audience where they had experienced Sofar before, folks yelled out?

  • Milan!
  • Germany!?
  • New Delhi!?

An adventure available in your own city if you’re open to it. I once heard, you don't truly learn a culture unless you immerse in it. I met and chatted with new people this evening. I got to deepen my relationships with existing members of my women's leadership platform. I got to meet incredibly talented musical artists I would have never, otherwise, discovered.

Adventure #2 World Spa

I did my first 'walking' meeting last Thursday. Since I've given up alcohol, I'm thinking of other ways to 'network.' Spas are another place to do business.

The World Spa, deep in Brooklyn, features a global wellness experience: You haven't experienced 'hot' until you have experienced the Russian banya, temperature toggled to 206 degrees. You haven't experienced 'ice cold' until you have dipped your toe into a Finnish sauna, temperature toggled to 48 degrees. The bathhouse features 2 restaurants for sit down meals. I had most of my conversation in the hot pool.

$80 for a day pass on a weekday. Easy access off the "F" train.
