How to Ensure Product Alignment with a Company's Strategic Goals; A Dual Perspective

Throughout my 27-year tenure as both a Project Manager and Business Systems Analyst, one fundamental principle has been consistently evident: ensuring the product remains in sync with a company's strategic goals is the linchpin to successful outcomes. A product misaligned with the company’s strategy is like a ship sailing off-course – it may never reach its intended destination. Below, I’ll delve into methods I've employed and learned over almost three decades to ensure product and strategy alignment.


Clear Understanding of the Company’s Vision and Mission

  • Before aligning a product with a company's strategic goals, it's crucial to understand the company's vision and mission deeply. This provides a roadmap and acts as the North Star. As a Business Systems Analyst, frequently revisiting the company's foundational principles aids in mapping the product requirements more cohesively.?

Consistent Stakeholder Communication

  • Stakeholder communication is the lifeline of any project. Regular check-ins and alignment sessions ensure that product development is on track. As a Project Manager, maintaining a clear channel of communication with stakeholders, from inception to completion, guarantees their vision is manifested in the product.

Incorporate Strategic Alignment Workshops
