How To Enjoy Godly Success

Hey, this is June Collier. I want to talk to you for a quick moment about having Godly success in your life.?
There are actually ten steps that I have written down, but this first step is by far the most important. If you get this wrong, the other nine steps won’t matter.?
I had a revelation about goal setting today as I was reading Scripture. This revelation has set me free from misquoting a section of Scripture that I have habitually loved to quote.?
I praise God for today’s revelation and I pray that my sharing it with you, blesses you as much as it has blessed me.?
This is step 1 to having Godly success in your life.?
Have you ever been told an unwritten goal is just merely a wish?
I bet you have, and it seems to be logical advice.?
Unwritten goals are just dreams that will never happen without being proactive. The first step to achieve a goal is to write it down to make sure the thought is saved and not going to be forgotten.
Many people will even support this with Scripture and incorrectly quote? Habakkuk 2:2 by saying, “Write down the vision and make it plain so that he may run that reads it.”
Now, I can already hear you saying, but June, that IS what Habakkuk 2:2 says!
Not quite!?
Habakkuk is frustrated. He is frustrated with the sins and wrongdoing of people who seem to be getting away with it. He cries out to the Lord, why does He not save those being hurt. Why has he seemingly favored the unrighteous by not punishing them??
So Habakkuk stands to wait on the Lord’s reply to his questions.?
Scripture says, Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.
Another version says, Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
You see, the vision is not yours… it is the Lord’s and He is telling you to write down the plans He has for you; just like He told all the people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.? ~ Jeremiah 29:11
When He tells you to write down the vision, God is not telling you to write down your vision, He’s telling you to write down HIS vision.
Proverbs 19:21 tells us, Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the reply of the tongue is from the LORD. ~ Proverbs 16:1
So does this mean we should not plan?
No… God wants us to plan. In fact, he encourages us to plan.?
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. ~ Proverbs 21:5
It is our job to spend time with the Lord and learn to hear from Him what plans He has for us. In fact, it is God who plants the desires of our hearts so that we will act accordingly to His will for us.?
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. ~ Philippians 2:13
So see, God puts the desire in our hearts. We then should write down His vision for us and make it plain. Once we do that, God will make sure His vision for us is carried out by directing our steps.?
That’s why Proverbs 16:9 states, “A man's heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.”?
So when you hear man’s wisdom teaching you how to set SMART goals… it’s not that God doesn’t want us to set up the structure of those goals.?
As humans, we want to set goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and anchored within a Time Frame.
But even in all of that, man’s wisdom is still flawed and we should not restrict the vision we have been given because when God sets his plans for you, He doesn’t operate on SMART goals.??
In fact, God loves working in what seems impossible and foolish to man. God has the ability to bend time.? Man’s best plans are child’s play to God.?
God’s plan looked foolish to men, but it is wiser than the best plans of men. God’s plan which may look weak is stronger than the strongest plans of men. ~ 1 Corinthians 1:25-27
As I close, I want to leave you with this thought.?
If you want to have Godly success in your life, stop and pray and ask God to reveal His ultimate plan for you to you. Ask him to help your unbelief and to give you the courage to walk in the vision He gives you.?
And, oh, don’t forget to write it down!?
