When it comes to resume-writing, it seems like everyone has their own opinion on how to write a resume that will garner the most views on hiring sites. With the development of AI and its implementation into the hiring world via applicant tracking systems and platforms such as Indeed, Dice, Monster, etc., it has become increasingly important to write for the AI. Here is our definitive list of steps you can take to enhance your resume to get the most views on hiring sites.
Don’t worry about fitting everything into one page. If you’re in tech, it’s not always enough to use one page to detail your experience. Generally speaking, tech job experiences have more complex descriptions that may not fit to one page.
Make sure you list the skills/tools you used at a specific role in the corresponding experience section. A lot of people think if they put the skills (Java, AWS) in the skills section, then that’s enough. That’s not the case. The employer will want to see what you did with that skill under each role.
Keep the same font throughout the entire document. Using multiple fonts can be confusing for both people and AI bots reading through resumes. As a general rule of thumb, keep it simple!
Be sure you list the month you started and ended at previous roles as well as the year. Though it may seem as though only listing the year could add experience to your profile, it can be misleading if you only had one month of experience in a calendar year and are counting it as a full year.
The simpler the overall design of the resume the better. This is mostly the case for tech roles. As we said a few bullet points above – keep it simple! Hiring managers don’t have all day to read resumes and making it complicated for them could lead to leaving your resume unconsidered.
Make sure you list your work status. Listing your work status as being a U.S. Citizen, or Green Card holder sets you apart from the rest of the applicants.
Always include a skills section in addition to including your skills under their respective roles. This summary gives the hiring manager an idea of what they can expect within the descriptions of your past experiences.

2 年This is excellent information. I also remind my candidates not to include an objective section on the resume, because it may not always coincide with the role they're interested in pursuing and the hiring manager may dismiss them solely based on that information.
