How to Empower Yourself to Confront Challenge and Go After What You Want

How to Empower Yourself to Confront Challenge and Go After What You Want

When things go wrong, and you feel judged or embarrassed I wonder - do you tend to criticise yourself, and doubt your knowledge or abilities - or worse still, to question who you are as a person?

?

Not trusting yourself can crush your self-esteem. It can make you feel anxious and insecure causing you to pull back massively in your life.

?

Not trusting yourself doesn’t just happen.? It gets created by something that hurt, embarrassed or demeaned you in the past. So, you second-guess or withdraw to protect yourself from the same emotional wounding happening again.

?

But here’s the thing: To heal and grow beyond it, you must be bold and brave!

?

When you lean into an ability to trust yourself to handle whatever storm life whips up, you learn to bounce back more quickly from set-backs and challenges. You become more resilient and less overwhelmed by unforeseen circumstances in your personal life and career.??

?

Nothing stays the same, so being able to trust yourself is a vital constant to navigate through the ups and downs of life – don’t you think?

?

Here are seven ways that I used personally to strengthen my self-trust. I hope they inspire you as they have my clients, to keep on striving forward too, over adversity, to win at life!

?

1.??? Balance your weaknesses with your strengths so that you keep in mind your abilities alongside your limitations.? Your accomplishments help to build confidence and encourage you to think more positively about yourself.

?

2.??? Limit negativity and cultivate a glass half full mindset so that you expect the best to happen every time.?

?

3.??? Keep your promises to yourself - do what you say you will, to strengthen your integrity with yourself. Setting yourself bite-sized more attainable goals you can build, grows your self-confidence steadily.

?

4.??? Don’t dwell on past mistakes. Give yourself permission to be human and fallible. Take the learning and move on.? All failure is feedback to do better next time.

5.??? Take small risks with quick decision making. Acknowledge what you get right to build your confidence with bigger decisions.

?

6.??? Be fully Yourself more often.? Surround yourself with people who love and appreciate you so that you feel safe in who you are. This will help you to get comfortable to be yourself in less familiar situations.

?

7.??? Stop being so critical of yourself and instead practise being kind to yourself - acknowledge what’s great about you and what you do get right so that you start to accept yourself more, with self-love.

Like the other high achieving mid-life women that I support to finally feel good enough and thrive today, you too deserve to heal from the past you may have buried. Only then will you stop second-guessing yourself when the heat is on.

?

I’d love to support you to deepen your ability to trust in yourself, so that you may fully and finally shine a light on the value you bring to this world; to forge deep connection in your relationships and to fulfil your potential with rock solid self-esteem.
