You're Qualifications matter - You're emotional intelligence matters more.
Don't ever think that the recruiter is right or the company that rejected your application.
It is a complete sad state of affairs when Corporate American loses the art of human intelligence to match EQ appropriately to the individual's future capability to the organisation.
A story of emotional triumph: written by Stephen Fahey?
John: Hey - mum, I made it. I got into Harvard - I did it.
Mum: Congratulations, son - I am so proud of you.
John: I can`t wait to tell Simon.
Simon was John`s best friend in high school - they did everything together. Played football in the school team - rallied their bikes together down at the dirt track at east point - they could never leave each other`s side.
John: Hey buddy what's up.
Simon:?I got great news - I got into Havard.
John:?Wow, man, that`s cool - I am so happy for you - you worked so hard this semester, and I know you will do great things in the future.
John:?Well, did you get your letter through?

Simon:?They sent an email last week, buddy - saying I did not make the grade - an admin error that the test scores were too low for entry.?
John:?What that's not right - you're IQ is way above mine, and you worked so hard in your preparation.?
Simon: I Know man - it's OK. It doesn't really matter. I am off to military school now - my dad got what he wanted. But, I had to leave the house early this morning - as my mum just started to shout at my dad - I couldn't take it any more. I guess some dreams don't happen.?
John:?But, what about us, our friendship. I am not going - I will reject the offer - I am not leaving you behind.?
Simon: You will do no such thing - you need this - remember God is in control, not us - we must follow our emotions and lead with that. I could not have that on my consequence that I encouraged you to give up on your dreams of Harvard - so I can feel better here - you`re got to go, John - our paths will lead right where we belong as long as will manage our emotions daily. Remember what Stephen Said: we have to get stronger at our emotional intelligence leadership practice.
The moral of the Story
Although Simon was disappointed in his application, he had enough self-awareness to advise his friend John to go to Harvard. As a result, their future rests more on emotions and managing them rather than IQ.?
"People with well developed emotional skills are more likely content and effective in their lives, mastering the habits of mind that foster their own productivity."
Daniel Goleman
What lies ahead in terms of more pupils like John and Simon for Universities and life is unknown - however, investing in emotional intelligence skills can ignite the best success amongst us all. Further, academic intelligence is not the complete foreground for success in life.
