By WOMEN OF TRUTH Chiara Barone-Macdonald Intern and Ambassadress for Sustainability.
This is a testimony I wrote shortly after the Mini summit in May 2020 held by Women of Truth inspiring me to delve further into the topic of sustainability and into the pursuit of global change. Now that we’re approaching the next summit on the 19th of September 2020, These are my aspirations for the new summit and how I hope it develops and increases my knowledge on including sustainability in every aspect of our life.??
Several weeks ago I attended the mini SDG Summit organized by Heleniq Argyrou. This conference entailed wide enlightenment on my knowledge of sustainable development goals. This conference and all these women gave me insight into the impact that this UN framework can have to encourage women to become entrepreneurs. As the youngest person participating in this conference, I met such inspiring women that gave me tips and tricks on how I can use my time now to achieve long-lasting impacts. My expectations were more than surpassed.

Furthermore,?I was able to express my opinions and give my advice on how these women working in similar career paths ( to the one I want to follow) for an extended period of time, could improve their projects or at least give a more modern interpretation of sustainable development goals. Although I joined the conference with some knowledge on SDGs, this summit definitely made me want to link with and widen my network with people working on gender equality, quality education and learn more about a more sustainable way of living. Optimistically I will join the next conference in September 2020 and become more informed on sustainable development goals to hopefully reproduce this in my career. It's given me guidance on how the process to take action on these SDGs in various countries giving me ample advice on how to ensure that these projects have a large reach in the international community.
Now that I have worked with WOT closely and met more women and men in this field I have learned about the importance of cooperation, comprehension, and compromise.
Those are three keys I believe will help me move forwards in the theme of sustainability. For the next conference, I want to be a part of the global movement for change. I hope to expand the theme of partnerships and how we can use already learned insights from the last conference to invite more youth into this discussion and observe the contrasting and complementing opinions on education, health, and the importance of taking action in the midst of a worldwide pandemic which challenges global changemakers to take action today.
