How to embed a Lean CI culture within your team
Ad Esse Consulting
Inspiring continuous improvement in organisations with a social purpose, so everyone can experience great services.
The most common question we get from Directors and Managers in our Harnessing the Power of Lean and CI seminar is something along the lines of?"How can I make this happen in my area now, without waiting for?an?organisational?directive?"?
First off, we love that enthusiasm! Secondly, the answer is "quite easily."??
We asked our fabulous team how they would go about it if they worked as a manager in an organisation like yours.?We have?summarised?their answers below??? ?
Improvement language
Firstly, get everyone talking the same language when it comes to improvement. Get them to understand the basics of the Lean Philosophy, and the concepts of purpose, failure & value demand, and waste. You could send your managers to one of our seminars,?get the team to take our Lean Awareness Qualification, or invite us to run an away day for your team.?
Email [email protected] to arrange an away day -->
Purpose
Have a team discussion about their purpose, your customers and what they value. Jot down thoughts and get some consensus.

Effective measures
Set up some proper team measures, ones that tell you whether you are achieving your purpose, and whether today is a better day than yesterday.
Track demand
Again, as a team, start to measure demand,?analyse?the results and agree next steps to reduce failure demand. Make sure you follow through and track the benefits.
Daily stand-up meetings
Start to run a daily stand-up meeting where you start to identify problems and opportunities for improvement, discuss progress made, and be clear what the?take away actions are to make things happen.
We have LOTS of resources to support you through these steps.?Check out our Knowledge Hub for more useful resources to support your journey to operational excellence.?If you need any support, ask Ad Esse. Email [email protected].
