How To Embed Images In Your Marketing Emails
Introduction
In this article, we'll show you how to create an email template in Gmail and then use that template to send an email. This way, you can make sure your emails always look professional and consistent—and it's easy!
Step 1: Make Sure You Have A Branded Email Template
The first step to including images in your emails is to create a branded email template.
You can build your own branded email template, or use one of the many templates available on HubSpot and MailChimp. Building your own branded template may seem daunting at first, but it’s actually not that difficult once you get started.
Once you've created your template, open up the email draft that contains the images that need to be embedded. Then click on any of the images and click "Edit Image" from the dropdown menu that appears:
Step 2: Add Text And Images To Your Template
Your email template is ready to go! Time to add text and images. To add text, click on the Text Editor button at the top of your email editor. Then type in your message. You can also use the Rich Text Editor to format your text using different fonts, sizes, and colors.
From the Email Designer, press the ‘Add Image’ icon. In the next screen, select an image from your computer or find an image online. If you're adding a new picture of your own, make sure it's at least 1 inch wide by 200 pixels high and has no border or watermark.
After selecting your photo you'll see it appear in the center of your email template, which is ready to be resized and repositioned with drag-and-drop controls.

Step 3: Add Your Logo And Color Scheme
Once you've added your images, you can also add a logo or color scheme to your email template. To do this, follow these steps:
Once you've created your email, here are a few ways to customize it:
Step 4: Save The Template
Once you’ve added your images, it’s time to save the template. You can do this by clicking on the blue “Save + Deploy” button in the top right corner of your screen. MailChimp will ask you if you want to save your changes and deploy them immediately or later. Click “Save for Later” and then move onto step 5 below!
Step 5: Drag And Drop The Template In Your Email Draft
Now that you've created your image, it's time to embed it in an email. To do this, drag the image into your draft and drop it into place where you'd like it to appear. The template will appear as a placeholder with all its formatting options still intact. You can then add content and make edits to the template through the properties panel or simply move it around on your screen until you're happy with its placement.
If you decide not to use this particular template after all, no problem! You can always save it for later by clicking Save Template at the top of the editor.
Now that you've saved the email, when you want to send an email with this design, just drag it over into an empty spot in your draft to start creating. The template will appear in your email as a separate section and can be edited by double-clicking on it.
Conclusion
When you're done, you'll have an email template with your logo and color scheme. You can use this same process with any image that you want to add to your email.
