How Electricity Actually Works Discussion
How Electricity Actually Works
Abr - You still cannot have a field (electric or magnetic) that is not associated with a particle. You can have matter without a field (or at least it looks like there is no field) but you cannot a field by itself. The field can never be without a particle. Trying to think of only fields may be helpful in some situations, just like a spherical cow [math reference]. It is not the whole picture though.
Alex - Abr,?The definition of a field in physics is something that has a value at every point in space at all times. That value can be zero, of course. But the field is there, everywhere all the time. At least conceptually. In the presence of a particle, the electric field has a different value close to the particle, than further away from it. When two particles are close, their contribution to the field are added to each other (they are superimposed). Light is often thought of as a disturbance (wave) in the electromagnetic field. Explaining it as particles is difficult for radio waves (for instance). So... How can you be sure "fields" cannot exist without particles? From what's reported on quantum mechanics there are particles popping in and out of "existence" all the time. Search for zero point energy. Does that make sense if there isn't a field there to begin with, before they "pop in"? I don't think it does. To me it looks like all evidence points towards space being like a huge ocean, filled by a substance we know very little about. Some have the idea that this substance is like a superfluid.
Jas -?Alex - That article is erroneous nonsense. There is no space time. That is an invention of relativity trying to replace the luminiferous ether media that was dismantled by Michelson Morley. Einstein simply renamed the ether as the fourth dimension and space-time. All of relativity and string theory and ether theory and quantum theory and holographic theory all REQUIRE some media to deform between planets that propagates light or generates gravity. Because all of those models use Lorentz??transformations. When the scientific community should be using Galilea transformations and elementary math. Which does not require any media at all to propagate light and gravity. It's the assumption that there is a media at all that is laughable.???
Alex -?Jas , That was just the first search result. There are many articles on the same topic. May I ask you, what is the speed of light according to you?
Jas -?Alex,?The velocity of light is about 186,272 mi./s??The rate of c. And the velocity of light and ALL electromagnetic radiation is c relative to the source it is emitted from. But the speed of light coming from a flashlight held in your hand is not the same speed as the light from a flashlight moving towards you or away from you. If the velocity of the source is coming towards you… Then you must add that to the velocity of light. c + v????If the velocity of the source is moving away from you then you must subtract that from the velocity of light. c - v?? So the velocity of light is dependent upon the velocity of the light source. May be an image of text that says '"If the velocity of light is even a tiny bit dependent upon the velocity of the light source, then my entire Theory of Relativity and Gravitation is false." {Quotation of A. Einstein from a letter to Erwin Finley-Freundlich: August 1913}.'

Alex -?Jas?I don't know what's right. Your ideas about light work if it consists of particles in empty space. If it's waves in an "ether", its speed is rather relative to that - a fixed frame of reference, like an absolute coordinate system. Whatever the case is, I'm happy that people are finally pondering different ideas. The religion of Relativity as the ultimate truth has gone too far, imho.
Paw -?Alex, particles are just the excitations of the fields.
Alex -?Paw,?I've heard that, from videos about quantum field theory. Would you mind explaining what such an excitation looks like? Is it a wave? All I've seen is a bump in a grid (computer graphics). But how can you have a bump in a field that doesn't dissipate or go anywhere?
Jas -?Alex,?Light is neither particles nor waves. There is no ether. Light does not require any media to propagate unlike what relativity insists. The fixed frame of reference is time. Time is a constant. Time is not connected to space whatsoever. Time does not dilate. That is an illusion having to do with the radial displacement of electrons around cesium atoms decaying at different rates.??

Abra -?It is kind of like you say, if you cannot detect a thing then it doesn't exist, it pops out of existence. The only way to detect something is if it acts upon matter. We are bathed in fields of influence, true but the subatomic particle physicists seem to be prone to call everything a particle. On the macro scale you don't see matter behaving capriciously.
PM -?Abra,?not quite right. Matter itself is comprised of nothing but fields. These fields can exert force so when their geometry allows, we have the illusion of solid matter. So, the mystery is, where did the fields come from that create matter?
Tod - PM, I agree with your take. I think Tesla was on to something when he said to understand the universe is to understand everything is frequency and vibration. Which are kind of the same thing I guess. So every piece of matter is just an extremely extremely tight vibration that is constant or almost constant and surrounds itself with another vibrational field or frequency and both are affected by the environment or other frequencies around it.
PM?- Tod,?exactly. I see matter as oscillating fields folded in on themselves in stable 3-dimensional patterns. The more we try to rip "matter" apart, the more this concept becomes evident.
Abra -?Well, there you go. You both are beyond me. I haven't personally had any experience with subatomic particles so I haven't developed any theories that can be proven. I'm trying to imagine why i would develop a theory about something that cannot be proven.... No. I can't imagine it. It would be like divorcing myself from reality.
Kan -?Abra, refer to the SUN LIGHT
Jas -?There are at least 4 different scenarios for generating electricity, heat... and cold. All humanity knows is 2 or 3 of those scenarios. But there is a fourth scenario of generating electricity... cleanly and efficiently. Without pollution or need for conventional fuels. You can jiggle the existing electrons in place... You can have a close circuit stream of electrons. And electrons can leave the system altogether. That's pretty much all Humanity knows. But a fourth scenario is when new electrons come in... as an open system. Let's go over a summary of what Humanity already knows. and then elaborate on the fourth scenario.
1 … Jiggling the existing electrons back and forth generates electricity. That is how all electricity is generated by humanity pretty much. By Jiggling the existing electrons in place. If you jiggle the electrons making up your body, you get electrocuted. And the more you jiggle an atom until you max it out... the more heat and disorder and vibration you get. Which leads to oxidation and meltdowns and ultimately the loss of electrons. So if you jiggle electrons in place too hard... that object or conductor will burn up or break.
And 2... if the existing electrons leave too fast... that is burning and oxidation. And meltdowns, radiation, decay, and dis-integration. We use copper for wires and coils. Wires heat up with more current because the atoms making up the conductor can only jiggle back and forth with a given rate of change before maxing out. And when you continue to force the electrons to jiggle in place more and more... the mass of the atoms won't allow it to jiggle anymore, so the difference in energy is made up by generating heat. And more heat leads to more loss of electrons and burning, etc.
3... You can have a stream of electrons from 1 terminal of a battery flowing through a circuit and it will deplete the battery. The electrolyte or the acid or something will lower and deplete as fuel. Energy must come from somewhere. So then you have to deplete something else in order to recharge the battery. Closed system like a parasite. But what about an open system?
4... New electrons can influx a circuit as an open system. Like the cycle of water in a hydroelectric dam. New water rains into a reservoir. That water is dammed up, and flows through channels to spin turbines and rotors. The relative motion of the magnets to coils generates electricity. When the water exits the other side... the kinetic energy is depleted. But the sun's energy evaporates the run-off and it eventually rains back into the reservoir after charging up from the ambient surround energy. Then the cycle repeats as an open system. New water is constantly coming in and going out at a constant rate of change. But instead of a water media... we can have the internal kinetic energy of electrons themselves flowing through the system analogous to the water. The surrounding environment supplies the energy to charge and recharge the kinetic energy of electrons that get depleted from use to generate an electric current. Which drops the temperature since the total amount of surrounding energy is being harvested and converted to an electric current. All abiding by the first law of thermodynamics which states the total amount of energy present must lower to generate an electric current. Therefore, the temperature drops in proportion to load. But this is not dealing with the Carnot cycle and flow of heat. This is dealing with so called subquantum kinetics, the quantum hall effect and other technical processes with LASER-like electron coupling and propagation in 2 dimensions. Restricting and compressing an entire orthogonal axis worth of kinetic energy to propagate radially.. on 1 plane. Asymmetric absorption in 3 dimensions... in various wavelengths... but output only in 2 dimensions at only 1 particular operating frequency... correlating with the magnetic waveform repeating at given intervals in proportion to load. Essentially making for a Bose-Einstein condensate on the macro scale.
Nic -?Jas?about radiation, decay and disintegration from number two. all media are in the active process of those things like even carbon is radioactive and everything decays. EVERYTHING. which essentially leads to disintegration. so… if a dead person is, well, dead, are you stating that there is still some form of electrical charge to non living things? the way I've figured is without the electric current which currently animates all living things then nothing is living. Akin to an unplugged computer which has a whole global story within it very much like earths. yet it is a cold dead box until it is powered plugged in and observed by something cognizant of it.
Jas - Nic,?in nature… You are correct. Because nature is full of chaos and incoherence and positive polarity. and incoherence yields the radioactivity, cyclotron radiation, synchrotron radiation, nuclear radiation and everything humanity currently knows. And all of those things are in a state of decomposition because of the electrons leaving at a faster rate than they are gaining. But there are some exceptions where electrons can be absorbed at a faster rate than they can be output. And it is the reverse of a meltdown. It is a super conductive overload.?When a system takes on more electrons then it can output.?But restoration and?remediation is the opposite of degradation and decay.?Integration is the opposite of dis- integration .Charge is the opposite of discharge. Coherence is the opposite of incoherence.?When you have more electrons coming in than going out… You start producing gravity rather than radiation. In the production of gravity as it is emitted by electrons… There are other energies emitted like the exhaust of a byproduct of the reaction.??
Nic -?nice
Dav -?I love science poetry!
Sol - Once we fully understand the principles of electricity as a quantum matrix we will be able to tap into this resource anywhere wirelessly but for now - Electricity as a commodity will only exist as long as people are willing to buy it from someone else at a price cheaper than they can produce the darn stuff themselves. Once electricity becomes very easy to produce just by changing roofing materials, well then a whole new ball game is afoot. In the far - future a tiny black box will sit on our window seals and power our homes, charge our cars wirelessly. To open the box would mean instant death so no one dares, as all other forms of electrical generation is rendered obsolete.
