How to easily navigate a scanned environment?

Navigating a scanned space can seem challenging, especially if your colleague scanned it and you've never visited the site. However, Metaroom Studio’s innovative Scan Path feature makes it remarkably simple to understand and explore 3D-scanned spaces. So, you not only save costs on on-site visits but also boost efficiency in space planning.

Let's take a closer look at Scan Path in Metaroom Studio!

Understanding the Scan Path

When using the Metaroom Scan App, the integrated SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) technology tracks the device’s movements and automatically captures detailed Scan Frames throughout the environment. This process creates a Scan Path, which can be reviewed in Metaroom Studio, ensuring no detail is missed in your scan.

How to access and review the Scan Path?

There are two ways to access and review Scan Frames in Metaroom Studio:

From the Scan Path in the upper navigation:

  1. Click the “Scan Path” icon on the upper navigation to display the scanning path.
  2. Click on the dots along the path to open the Frame Interaction sidebar, showing related Scan Frames.

From the All Scan Frames List:

  1. Navigate to the left sidebar and click on “Scan Frames.”
  2. Click on “All Scan Frames” to view the complete list and select any frame to open it in the Frame Interaction sidebar.

Benefits of using Scan Path

The Scan Path feature provides a clear and detailed visual representation of the scanning process, making it easy for spatial planners to understand the environment without being physically present.

By reviewing the scanned environment remotely, companies save on travel expenses and time, allowing for more efficient project planning and execution. At the same time, team members who haven’t visited the site can easily get up to speed, facilitating better communication and collaboration.

To sum up

Metaroom Studio’s Scan Path feature helps teams navigate and understand scanned environments remotely. Providing a detailed and interactive view of the scanning process ensures that even those who have never been on-site can easily comprehend the space. This not only saves costs and increases efficiency but also enhances the overall planning and collaboration experience.
