Back in the day I was on the road non stop. I would do about 1600 miles a week behind the wheel and was under a TON of pressure. However , that is no longer the case. I've been able to walk away from my 13 year, successful medical device sales career and have left all the pressure behind me... but not the paycheck. I work from home literally in the nooks and crannies of my day (think nap times, in the car driving, when I am out walking, on the playground etc). And the BEST part is, I am still present for my family while still making a very substantial income.
According to https://makethebesthappen.ph/ a "sad fact: the average working adult spends nine hours a day at work and only eight hours a week with the family."
"The demands of professional life keep us from spending enough (or what we think is enough, if there ever will be) time with our kids. Ask any working parent and they’ll tell you as much.
There’s really no way to have it all, but we can still come pretty close. Your desire for a better and happier family life is in no short supply—here are a few hacks to help you work less and have more family time.
Work less by cutting out the unnecessary.
More and more young families are realizing the opportunities in franchising, thanks to the access to a wealth of quality businesses and an ever-growing market with increasing purchasing power.
With franchising, most of the work has been laid out for you; it has established, tested and streamlined systems and processes, with an existing following. It takes the risk and the heavy workload of invention and testing out of your hands and into your pockets.
Management consultant Dr. Joseph Juran theorizes that 80% of a person’s time is wasted on activities, concerns and conversations that are completely unnecessary, while the remaining 20% of your activities is what leads to 80% of what you accomplish.
Franchising takes away 80% of the clutter and allows you to master the 20% to achieve more with your precious time. In other words, you get to spend your time on more important matters, leaving more of your day to spend with family.
Earn more by working smarter.
The only solution to the conundrum of work life and family life balance is of course, to work smarter.
The concept is sound, and you can’t imagine why you hadn’t thought of it sooner. It is, however, easier said than done.
A lot of work goes into developing the habit of working smarter instead of harder. In Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he tells the story of a woodcutter whose saw becomes increasingly dull from constant use, doubling his effort to cut down trees. If the woodcutter took a break and sharpened his saw, he would cut down on the time and effort it would take. This story is a perfect example of working smarter.
