How is E-Society influencing us
When I was 23
Five years ago (March 2013), I came to Australia, a country that was unfamiliar to me. At that time, my English proficiency was only able to reach survival communication. I did not dare to face-to-face checkout with the cashier because I was afraid that the communication mistakes, shame on me. I was depressed because I had no friends or relatives here, and pretended to be good when I was FaceTime with my family, but I secretly shed tears in the night.
However, all this did not stop me from looking forward to learning and living in Australia. I successfully entered Monash's Master Program (Master of business law and Master of Professional accounting) on July after passed the 18 weeks foundation course. During this period, I had started to work as an intern reporter and editor of a new media at an international Chinese media company in Melbourne. As a year volunteering, I gained a lot of experience of interviewing, reporting, writing, and sensitive sense of news in Melbourne Chinese community, yet I always make money zero. I realised that some companies which are Chinese background would like to use international Chinese students who contribute free labor for saving human resourcese budget to earn more profit and run the business.
I don’t want to say it’s disgusting or comment something, I just want you to know I was willing to contribute, I really loved working in this industry.
Wechat as New Social Media create a blooming E-Society in Australia
In 2015 November, HighFun media as a first/professional/advanced live broadcasting platform on mobile devices in Australia. had been established, I as co-founder started to run our own social media through WeChat, which occupies Chinese social communications in China to report and release a several of news which is relevant to Australian and Chinese for Chinese Audience and readers. We offered the services that consist of Live streaming for Event Hosting, Marketing expanding, Advertising, Creating your program in our Channel to reach the achievements of business proposal.
After unremitting efforts for 2 months, our Wechat subscription had been subscribed successfully from zero to over ten thousand followers, and then I accidentally became a celebrity in Melbourne Chinese community. Over 4 million Chinese people are activating on Wechat in Australian in 2016, there have a huge traffic in a day over 1 million views from Wechat subscriptions which have been making thousands of bloggers (I am one of them) who have been earning decent margin from sponsorship, partnership, planting advertising on wechat articles etc. just located in Australia.
Some of peers threw up the Oliver branch to me, which we can cooperate and create blooming Chinese media in Australia. Therefore, we began to organise, co-organise and promote of events, ceremonies, concerts, competitions, etc., at the same time, lots of sponsors would like to plant their brand based on their advertising budget.
I supervised our team of 20 people (4 full-time and other part-time) as a brand director, we was envisaging our long-term development, I was overconfident, and eager to achieve more success in my career; but I did not notice the Australian site takes considerable time and funds to navigate the media business, I had no professorial advisory for running a business, and no talent acquisition and assessments; consequently, I faced lots problems and difficulties. I was authorised and signed the contract with one of my client who I did not investigate and search their background and physical capacity for organising an event like a beauty pageant, unfortunately, the client breached and defaulted against our wills, I suffered at a heavy cost, and the case was taking a beating for the credit and reputation of my business and myself in July 2017 .
Some turn into new industry
During that period, I received recognition and help from Rhys Roberts who is the managing director and senior partner in Roberts Gray Lawyers as my mentor, he knew all cases of mine and what happened, he gave me useful and precious suggestions and advices. he hires me joining Roberts Gay Lawyers Firm as a part-time marketing assistant which take responsibilities for management of social media, created high-quality marketing strategy documentation, including lawyers firm marketing briefs, FAQs and objection handling documents.
Despite this harsh time, I never give up, again and again I have being studied the knowledge of marketing, business law, and figured out what I stand for in my career, and turn into a professional marketing specialist. I believe that everyone can learn knowledge but there is no school to teach personality so as long as you put passion, love and motivation in whatever you do, you will never fail, and the world is full of talents and professionals, but what makes an employee outstanding from the crowd is his personality, commitment and passion for what he does that makes the real different for a company. At the same time, I have started writing stories what I heard, met, experienced, and comprehended. After released a series of Chinese novels in my personal WeChat subscription, I have won the love and support of many people, a film investor who wants to develop Chinese film culture in Australia and decided to film the story what I wrote into a 15-minute short film. Ultimately, I am starting my new career in film industry.
The short film named <50:50> , it means that there is no absolute right and wrong from our choice and life.
