How Driving in the Wrong Direction Built a High Growth SaaS Company

It's coming up on seven years since I co-founded Ghostery (previously Evidon and before that The Better Advertising Project). I've learned so much and experienced so many highs, lows and in-betweens that I've embarked on a new project to share my thoughts. I hope that this new series helps others who are considering starting a company. The Ghostery of today had its start from an uncommon place - driving in the wrong direction on a Sunday afternoon. I hope you find it useful and please share your thoughts with me here and @scottmeyer.

People laugh when I tell them that Ghostery started with a simple detour and a question from my wife.

“Why is the sun on the wrong side of the car?” My wife woke up from a nap looking confused. “I think we’re going in the wrong direction.”

I had pulled over for gas in Connecticut while driving from Boston to New York. And when I got back on the highway, I was so deep in thought, I didn’t realize I had started driving East instead of West.

Thanks Scott. Great to have this insight. I still remember being at a function and learning about BetterAdvertising (when I was meeting Kurt Unkel in his SeerSucker jacket!) I can't believe it's 7 years!
