If there is something that social networks bring us are the thousands of valuable contacts that we have been making over the years. Some because they have worked together in some company or project, others because they have met at events and many others because they have simply come into contact for possible collaborations and have ended up doing business.
More than once I wondered what would happen to our network of contacts if a platform like LinkedIn closed. We spend hours sharing content and expanding our networks and, although with many users we have come to have a sincere friendship, with others we have only exchanged tweets, "I like" debates and comments, we know they are in our network in case we ever need, But we have no other way to get in touch than through a certain social platform.
To avoid losing all these contacts, the important thing is to make a backup of all the data that we have in each of the social networks.
LinkedIn has thought about it and gives us a button to request the file. In the new design is very simple to find:
1. Just click on our photo at the top right of the main page.
2. Enter "Tools".
3. We click on “Privacy".
4. Select Account and click on "Get data file".
5. Doing this will prompt us to re-validate, to confirm that we are really the owners of the account.
6. Once the request is made, we will receive an email in several minutes with several files containing all the information of our account, messages, contacts and connections.
One of the files is an Excel with all our contacts, yes, keep in mind that contacts with names or accented names are distorted, but it is easy to rebuild.
The next day we will receive a second email with a link where we can download the complete file, including our activity and account history.
These are the main data we will have available:
1. Date and time when we created our account.
2. Connections in first degree.
3. Imported contacts.
4. Certificates, training and awards included in our profile.
5. Comments that we made in our wall with the date, the URL, subject on which we have commented and contents.
6. Photos shared.
7. Comments we have made in groups, with the theme, date, time, URL and title.
8. List of ads we clicked on.
9. All the skills that other users have validated in our profile and recommendations.
10. Interests and tastes that we have highlighted.
11. Applications connected to our account.
12. Invitations we sent.
13. Attempts to access our account.
14. This file can only be downloaded from the computer, it is not available from the mobile.
With this functionality at least we will have a file with the names, surnames and email of all our contacts and all the information that we have shared since we registered our account until the moment of making the request.
