How to Dominate the Conversation

How to Dominate the Conversation

The question had something to do with a problem. What was it? A client dominating a coaching session. I had thoughts of the 80/20 rule, active listening, empathy, ideating solutions together to help with buy in...

Of course I jumped right into answer mode.

However, it doesn't matter if you are a coach, mentor, advisor, consultant, sales person, supervisor, or friendly ear: when someone has something they are challenged with, they should be dominating the "session" (conversation).

It's just not one of those words we like to use. Dominate. It sounds...violent.

But that's exactly what you should allow.

You know how it works sometimes. You hear later "They said you had a great conversation." when you know you said very little.

But, I like it that way.

I'll take it!

Here's more of what I had to say regarding "How to Dominate the Conversation."
