The 'Yoga for Athletes Series' has it 's cardiovascular exercise. The athlete exercise strength, stretch and aerobic training at once with the appropriate breath. This leads to a dramatic quality difference in endurance quality.

Are there specific exercises lead to better endurance?

Vinyasa in yoga is breath and movement. It is a coordination of movement with breath to flow. As you work with vinyasas you have intensity, duration and frequency. Balancing these qualities three components you gain a cardio exercise.

Can yoga replace cardio workout?

How is yoga related to high performance in endurance?

Yoga improves cardio-respiratory efficiency: Madanmohan et al (2008) have reported that yoga training of six weeks duration attenuates the sweating response to step test and produces a marked increase in respiratory pressures and endurance in 40 mm Hg.

Breathing practice is essential to yoga, some would say even defined by it. Practitioners use a back-of-throat nose breathing called ujayi pranayama, or “breath of the victorious warrior,” which lengthens inhalations and increases lung capacity. This, in turn, delivers more oxygen to the body and helps with overall performance and efficiency.
