How does it work without oil?

How is it possible for compressors to operate efficiently without oil seals? Oil is eliminated from common use in industries where it is crucial for end customer safety or production processes, etc.

The heart of oil-free scroll compressors from Anest Iwata is a spiral, oil-free vacuum pump that enables precise operation without the use of oil seals.

How is this possible? This is achievable due to the construction and operation of this pump. How does such a pump work?

The moving scroll moves relative to the stationary scroll part, resulting in the formation of several crescent-shaped air pockets, which are accompanied by a number of non-contact seal lines to the right and left of the pump. The incoming air moves through increasingly narrower spaces and reaches the center (The distance between each sealing line is about the thickness of a hair. ). The pressure difference between the air pockets is kept to a minimum, ensuring stable compression.

To completely contain the pressurized air generated, we first made sure that the sealing material was durable and wear-resistant. Then we added incisions on special seals, called "lips".?They were placed on the side and bottom of the seal, just a few millimeters apart. When compression began, the lips stood up like fish scales. Many tests of the materials, carried out under strict conditions, for optimal roughness, strength, and performance have proven a durability of 10,000 h of use
