How does Stress impact Success?

As the CEO of MILK Real Estate , I’ve seen firsthand how stress in the workplace can significantly impact our success. In the fast-paced world of real estate, the pressure to close deals, meet client expectations, and stay ahead of market trends is intense. But I recognise that our greatest asset is our people, and their wellbeing directly influences our company's achievements.
When our team is stressed, productivity drops. I’ve noticed how stress can cloud judgement, slow down processes, and lead to mistakes that could have been easily avoided. It also affects morale—people start to feel overwhelmed and undervalued, which can lead to increased absenteeism and, ultimately, higher turnover rates. This is not just a loss of talent but also a drain on resources as we continually train new staff.
I have prioritised tackling workplace stress head-on. To support this, I have introduced flexible working hours, allowing our team to balance their professional and personal lives more effectively. Our comprehensive employee assistance programmes provide support when it’s needed most. Additionally, I have cultivated a supportive work culture that encourages open communication and ensures everyone feels heard.
These initiatives have made a noticeable difference. Our team is more engaged, morale is higher, and productivity has improved. We’re seeing fewer sick days and a greater sense of camaraderie. Ultimately, by prioritising our employees' wellbeing, we’re not just creating a better workplace—we’re building a more successful, resilient company.
Stress in the workplace is inevitable, however, by acknowledging its impact and proactively addressing it, we can ensure that our team remains our strongest asset.
