How does iocharger EV charger work with OCPP?
In recent years, with the rapid growth of electric vehicles and EV charging equipment, a stable and reliable charging network is very important for electric vehicle drivers, OCPP is an integral part of building this stable charging network, all open operation charging facilities can be interconnected under the guidance of OCPP and successfully serve electric vehicle owners and charging operators.
1.WHAT IS OCPP?
Open Charge Point Protocol abbreviated as OCPP is an initiative of ElaandNL and is maintained by Open Charge Alliance based out of the Netherlands.
It is an open-source communication protocol used to exchange information between electric vehicle chargers and the backend management systems. Open-source networking allows the protocol to be adopted without much hassle. OCPP intends to enable inter-operability between charging equipment or chargers and the backend management systems by creating a common language between EV charging points and the online billing and management platforms.?
It is adopted in 78 countries, this standard assures hardware and cloud management interoperability, an important factor to an EV charging site owner/operator who may want to use a variety of vendors and cloud management solutions. OCPP allows the EV service provider the ability to switch between central data management solutions, as well as use a variety of hardware, and ensures scalability. The EV service provider will be able to "plug and play" across different hardware or data management providers as long as they are OCPP compliant.
2.How does iocharger EV charger work with OCPP?
2.1 As a member of OCA & OCPI, iocharger is providing professional EV charging solutions based on OCPP 1.6j & 2.0.1, including EV chargers, Charging Station Management System (CSMS), Dynamic Load Balancing, Energy storage system, etc.
As shown in the diagram above, iocharger can provide complete hardware & software solution to manage energy sources among grid, solar, EV charger and Energy Storage System based on OCPP technology.
2.2 The diagram of iocharger EV Charger
Iocharger AC EV Charger is usually available with Control module, MCB, TYPE B RCCB, Power Meter, Modular Contactor, LCD display, RFID, communication module and SPD…
EV Chargers can be connected to Charging Station Management System(CSMS) via control module and communication module, Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 3G/4G.
2.3 How it works?
In order for charging stations to function alongside management systems from different vendors, you need an application protocol that translates whatever proprietary tools each program uses into a form the others can understand. That is the goal of OCPl: to provide a way for different EV charging stations to communicate with different central management systems.?
When charging the EV with a commercial EV charger, the EV charger will communicate with the central management system via Open Charging Point Protocol, which makes the charging session convenient and reliable.
OCPP allows charging stations to communicate with management systems from different vendors. While this seems like a small detail, the consequences for consumers and charging station owners are huge. The ability to mix and match according to circumstances, knowing that OCPP will ensure compatibility, makes it much easier for providers to create large-scale, visible charging networks.

3. What are iocharger doing in OCPP.
iocharger has been developing OCPP for more than 8 years, more than tens of thousands of EV chargers supporting OCPP1.6j are running all over the world.
Now, all of our EV chargers are not only supporting OCPP1.6j, but also the latest OCPP2.0.1, which will ensure we are streets ahead of our competitors.?

1 年Maybe you can take a look at the your firmware and the integration with Homeassistant, which is one of the biggest home automation platforms in use. There my IOChargers IOCAH10-22T does not look considerably good (Firmware 22121701-21111301-21111301). Current Import is 3 times the current offered. One value accounts for the number of phases, the other not. So data is inconsistent. Not many available fields are exported. There is e.g. no way to get active energy reported (response "RebootRequired", but booting changes nothing. The reporting interval seems 900sec. Tried to change it to 30 sec and ended up in a crashed firmware. So the values offered by OCPP make it really difficult to use it for solar excess charging.
