How Do You Want Your Travelers to Feel?

Have you ever been asked how YOU want to feel when planning a trip? It's not often we consider this question, but it's an important one. So, let me ask you: How do you want your clients to feel? Let's explore how we can make that happen.

Has anybody ever asked you this question when planning a trip for you? How do you want to feel? How do you want your clients to feel??

Have you ever considered how you want the traveler to feel when booking trips for you or your clients??

Most travel planners concern themselves with the basics, getting clients from point A to B to C and ensuring they have accommodations along the way. Some even go the extra step to try and save as many pennies along the route as they can so they can provide their clients with the least expensive trip.?

At See Italy, we are passionate about our love for Italy and sharing our connection to our beloved country. We handcraft every itinerary knowing that our travelers will experience emotional connections to Italy that will create a lifetime of memories for them.?

I've had several clients in the past who have come to me asking for specific itineraries that are out of the box, simple but meaningful, and especially deep in the core. This is what we deliver ALL, and I mean it, ALL the time, itineraries that blow their minds! And lately, I also get the ones who say, "but I am shopping around with another company." OK. Great. I am curious. I think, "Which company? Who is our competitor in this very specific kind of request?"?

Then I realized that we're competing against a company outside the region, one that surely doesn't know anything about the area the client asked about and outsources their request. Yet, a client might consider them solely because they offer low price.?

There is a misalignment here, not because we didn't deliver, but because what they will get from the other company is a cookie-cutter general tour lacking the heart and soul we infuse into our experiences.

Many travel planners and travel agents still don't see the opportunity before them to create clients who are loyal to them for life by providing unique travel to Italy that's full of emotional connections to this land and its people.?

These travel professionals will make the choice for their clients that the bottom line is the most important factor. This is also ironic because it is a fact that a happy RETURN client is always better for a business' bottom line than the one-time coupon-clipping client who purchased the deal of the week.?

So, where is the problem here? The problem is that whoever is requesting the quote on behalf of the client doesn't know:?

  1. Where they are sending their clients?
  2. Who they are serving?
  3. What they are doing for them?
  4. If they are true to their core values (what they stand behind)?

When we sell tours to Italy, we are clear on our core values, and because we've interviewed our travelers, we know what they want to experience and do and why.?

It is a flow, and for us, it goes this way: ?

CORE VALUES = COMMUNICATION = EXPERIENTIAL TOURISM?

We want our clients to meet the locals, have genuine experiences, and trust that the trip we have built for them is exactly what they asked for when they described it to us. Their perfect trip is the one we customize for them as we do for every client.?

Communication through email doesn't fully convey emotions, nuances, and desires. This is why we interview every client. When we build itineraries, we make sure they are molded to their soul and inner desires so that when they travel, we already know the answer to the question, "How do you want to feel?"?
