How do you start a business simply by "knowing people"?

After more than a decade of working for global organizations focused on the reduction of Opioid Dependence, Addiction and Overdose, I received a call from a physician colleague. He said, "I'm tired of seeing what heroin is doing to my community, my patients, and i'm going to stop this". He was located on the south side of Chicago, in the community that I grew up in and he was the first person I went to go see when I began working for the manufacturers of Suboxone more than a decade ago. At that time, he had a thriving primary care practice and had no desire to treat "those people". So, I planted a seed. I continued to plant seeds across the greater Chicagoland area which resulted in several hundred physicians seeking/obtaining certifications to treat Opioid Addiction on an outpatient basis. Over the past 15 years, I helped more than 70 healthcare professionals and organizations to start, streamline or grow Medication Assisted Treatment programs.
It was almost 2 years today that, that seed I had planted with the good Dr. began to bloom. The physician colleague called and said, "I know that you can help me to build my practice, I trust you, let's talk".
It was on that day that Vantage Clinical Consulting LLC was born. I applied for an LLC, a checking account and I prayed for God's guidance.
I got to work quickly and developed a treatment framework, policies/procedures, trained his staff on the disease of Addiction, medication pharmacology then went into our community to find partners. I called strategic supporters for help including local treatment centers, individual counselors, pharmacists, local laboratories, community based organizations, local politicians and law enforcement to tell them our plans to make their job easier. As we were growing his clinic to capacity, I was contacted by another who said, "I heard you can help". And the story continues...
I really love the work that I am privileged to do and its very exciting to be able to organize people for a common purpose and find a common ground between people who are different. I KNOW PEOPLE and I bring them together to reduce our nation's Opioid Epidemic. This, is how you start and grow a business simply by knowing people. I often run into strangers who say "Your name came up...." and that's music to my ears. To have made as many friends as I have in this business is truly a blessing. There's nothing better than getting behind good people and pushing.
How will you PUSH today? I'd love to hear about it
