How do you sponsor a clean water system for an entire community? With World Vision.
Mediassociates
Strategic media planning, buying and analytics for Measurable Impact
When Mediassociates decided to fund a clean water system for an entire village in Honduras, they turned to World Vision—a nonprofit known best for international child sponsorships, but one also focused on building massive economic and infrastructure projects in more than 100 countries around the world. In Honduras, where more than 1 million people still lack access to clean water, World Vision aims with corporate sponsor partners to install wells, pumps and sanitation systems to solve the issue across the country by 2030.
“When we looked at different organizations, we sought one with the similar mindset we have with our clients – that is, do they make a demonstrable impact?” Scott Brunjes says. “World Vision is terrific at this.”?
Laura Kerton, a senior manager of analytics at Mediassociates, visited Honduras this January to see how clean water cascades into other benefits. “It’s not just that we are helping one community get clean water,” she says. “Those communities become set up for financial success. People have more time now. They can pursue other things such as findings ways to make money for their families; the children can go back to school …
“This is a trickle effect going down for generations to come.”

As far as why help Honduras, Kerton was reflective. “Yes, people may ask why Honduras, why not help in America? There is sometimes this thinking that we need to watch out for ourselves first, our local communities … but people need to realize we are all human and we should not think in borders. All families and communities need help.
“These people in Honduras don’t have the most basic needs for survival,” she says. “That’s why this is the right place to help. We are one humankind. So where is the most desperate need at this moment?”
