How do you spend your commute time?

I came across this article in the Globe this morning about taking a new approach to your commute to work. https://tgam.ca/2N3M9cm
While I've always read on my commute (yes, you are right..I don't drive!), this is not always the case of others around me. Taking an on-line course, listening to an informative podcast, listening to an audio book, etc. are all a great way to not only pass the time and make the commute more enjoyable, but it makes it educational as well. Even doing puzzles (and I don't mean games like CandyCrush) is great for the brain.
The only suggestion in the article I don't agree with is calling a friend...unless you are alone in your car. On the bus? Please no! On the subway? Please no! Walking in the street? Stop it! I really don't care to hear your side of the conversation (and why DO you have to talk so loudly?).
Want to try it? Think about your commute. Do you dread it? Do you see it as a waste of time? Do you focus on the people around you and wish you were anywhere else (especially in the heat of the summer)? If so, try one of the suggestions and take stock of where you are in week or a month. Have you finished a book you were meaning to read (but always fell asleep at night trying to get through it)? Did you learn something new in an interesting podcast? Does your mind feel more acute having completed the NY Times crossword puzzle?
Oh and, by the way, clearing emails and listening to messages...while we all do that....is something I'd try not to do during this pilot project of yours. Make your commute time for YOU. There's enough to do once you get to the office. Namaste.
