How do you say "Google" in vernacular ? (or - Googling Google's adblitz :) )

On a recent trip to Delhi, I was struck by Google ads all over bill boards…

Pixel featured prominently of course, bill boards in addition to full newspaper ads.

However what caught my eye were ads in vernacular, about Google search being the best way to get henna patterns, or recipes for traditional dishes.. I noticed the same during a trip to Bangalore as well.

In addition, big bill board ads for Google maps as well…

So, the big question is, why the need for Google to advertise itself at such a massive scale? And that too for features that have become ubiquitous  - search, maps…..

Why this need for massive publicity, after all Google is a verb by itself. And Google maps has all but replaced GPS and Tom Tom.….so why?

Is it to influence and evangelize the majority just starting to realize the power of the world wide Web, the vast millions that Project Loon will possible get onto the internet highway.....

Perhaps to garner the next generation of users and show them what Googling is all about…

Perhaps tempt the next generation of entrepreneurs into thinking of myriad ways of using Google power

Maybe is to make the data it has organized accessible in an easy way to the new converts to internet out there…

Possibly, through increased use, increase its access to even larger data swathes to refine its intelligence....

Or maybe it is taking cognizance of competitors lurking around, and there is an actual marketing flavour to the ad blitz?
