Founded in 2013 by MIT Media Lab, the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI), and ODI, Data-Pop Alliance (DPA) is a global non-profit ‘think-and-do tank’. We collaborate with researchers, data scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and activists to leverage data and AI for social good. Our work centers on three pillars: diagnosing local realities and human challenges through data and AI; mobilizing capacities, communities, and ideas toward data-literate societies; and transforming the systems and processes that shape our societies. DPA is registered in the USA, Mexico, France, and Senegal.

???DPA is a proud partner with CABI in advancing FAIR Data Principles for Agriculture. For this impactful project, Data-Pop Alliance (Natalie Grover, Anthony Deen, Evelin L., and Nelson Papi kolliesuah) developed the content for Steps 1-5 of this framework. By incorporating real-world case studies, with practical exercises and workflows, this approach helps Project Officers identify the needs of their investments and lower barriers to applying #FAIRprinciples (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to agricultural development work. ?? The framework is tailored to three key project archetypes: 1???Digital Solutions 2???Policy and Advocacy 3?? Field Research ???Why this matters: This initiative supports the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Open Access commitments, promoting data availability, usability, and accessibility. It’s a vital step toward unlocking the full potential of agricultural data, empowering sustainable development, and driving innovation in #AgDev projects worldwide. ???Launched this week, the framework is a comprehensive suite of tools to help data-rich agricultural projects thrive. ?? World Cities Day ?? In observance of World Cities Day, I want to celebrate a landmark #partnership. @UNWomenAsiaPacific and Data-Pop Alliance have come together to pioneer innovative, cost-effective #genderdata methods that will help shape the #CaringCities of the #future. This #collaboration focuses on developing urban spaces that are #inclusive, #responsive, and attuned to the #careneeds of all residents, especially #women, #caregivers, and #marginalized communities. Leveraging cutting-edge data science and a feminist urban planning approach, the initiative will generate valuable insights into how cities can be redesigned to support caregiving roles and promote #genderequality and #womeneconomicempowerment. By tapping into the #power of data, @UNWomenAsiaPacific and Data-Pop Alliance are setting the empirical foundation for urban spaces that prioritize safety, accessibility, and community #well-being—transforming #cities into supportive environments that foster both social and economic #resilience. This partnership exemplifies a forward-thinking approach to feminist urban development, one where #inclusivity and #care are at the heart of #city planning.
