How do you perform wet sieving?

Wet sieving test is a method of separating coarse and fine particles of materials with water or other liquids, which can remove fine particles, decompose agglomerates or eliminate static charges, suitable for high concentration of fine particles, easy to agglomerate, sticky, less than 75 Micron granular materials, such as: aggregate, clay, silt, etc. So how do you perform wet sieving?

Pre-testing

Mix the sample material with water until a suspension appears

Prepare a stack of sieves that are drenched

Place gaskets between each individual sieve

Place wet washing lid on the top of the sieves and wet washing receiver (with outlet) on the bottom

Establish the flow of water

Pour the material onto the top sieve

Turn on the Wet Sieving Tester for 5-10 minutes depending on the size of the sample

Turn on the water supply

Observe the liquid at the outlet, once the liquid is clear, turn off the water and shaker

Collect material retained on each sieve

Use an oven to dry the material, and the material needs to be weighed for data analysis after drying
