The prevailing belief is that leaders are made, not solely born with innate traits.

1 年Great article Steve - Developing the human system is just as important as developing the technical and operating systems. I'd propose this means understanding both nature (how your brain is wired) and nurture (how your mind is programed).

I believe the great football coach, Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers also said along the same lines, "Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price that all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile."

1 年Like many, my answer is that leadership is a function of both "Nature and Nurture." Some step into leadership roles easily, while others become leaders when the situation requires direction. However, as someone else once said, the most important rule of leadership is that "...everything is your fault."

1 年Steve Brody that Warren Buffett quote is killer; integrity is a deal breaker. Not everyone is cut out or wants to be a leader. The more leadership development opportunities we can make available to our teams the better.
