How do you mark progress?

This past week, I spoke with someone who's spent years working toward a long-term goal. This question of progress came up. They haven't achieved the goal yet and still have their eyes on the prize. However, focusing on the goal itself isn't enough. They're also working hard not to get discouraged and give up.
It's often not enough to celebrate after reaching a goal. To make it to the finish line, it's critical to mark your progress and celebrate along the way.
This week, I invite you to think about your long-term goals. Reflect on how far you've come since you began, and mark the progress you've already made. Then, identify checkpoints that can serve as progress markers for the future. When you reach them, take a minute to celebrate.
We learn and grow with each decision and interaction we make. Give yourself the benefit of marking your progress along the way. You might find that you're more energized to reach the finish line.
Self-reflection:
What have you been working toward?
How do you mark progress?
Who do you share it with?
How do you celebrate it?

1 年Good food for thought Maura. Thanks for sharing.
This semester I am taking my 5th M.Ed. course which will earn me a Certificate! It will also act as a checkpoint as I continue on for the degree but it will be a long haul. Great advice to create another progress marker to keep me moving forward!
