How Do You Manage Google Reviews?
So... we just received our FIRST negative review on Google, and it had nothing to do with our business! How do you usually handle negative reviews? And what about the ones that are completely irrelevant?
Below is the review.
My gut reaction was anger, thinking, "Don't people have anything better to do with their lives?" So I gave myself a minute to spew my anger in response, and then I erased it. ;-)
My next thought was, "How do I fix how Google shows its results?" I'm pretty sure I can't, but I decided to reach out to Google My Business support because we also get a lot of incorrectly routed calls. Maybe they can help with both of my issues.
I responded promptly and, hopefully, appropriately. You be the judge. Do you think I handled it appropriately? What would you have done differently?
One thing I've learned is that I will respond to every review in the future, not just the negative ones. I've also realized that although Google may display "About 15,800,000 results (0.33 seconds)," that is not the actual speed at which Google works. Time will tell if they (or Google) will remove the irrelevant review, and until then, we will strive to maintain the highest quality of customer service.

Responding to every review is important, not just the negative ones. It shows Google you are active, and it shows prospective customers that you actively participate in the review process. The best way to respond is to be pragmatic and you did a great job of addressing the concern and showing future customers you care.
