How do you manage this generation?

We simply can't continue to do what was done to us. This generation isn't interested. But, neither was the generation before it, or the one before that. Innovation always requires change.

We welcome over 100 executives, managers and alumni to the 2018 S3 Board Meeting next week. We meet the challenge of recruiting and managing the work force in the business of sports today with a fresh approach that attracts and retains the best talent.

Following the Tuesday S3 Pro Day of interviews with our supporting (above) and recruiting partners, Tim Salier, Spurs Sports & Entertainment, will share how their organization is reorganizing to recruit and retain talent to produce more revenue. Eric Fernandez, SportsDesk Media, will share a corporate story along the same lines. The latest ticket trends are presented by StubHub's Raymond Delacruz and Evan Breslow.

Find your Why

At the Phillips 66 S3 Banquet, Tami T. Walker will welcome board members and students alike to adopt productive long-term strategic views to leadership and education. Paul Epstein, a veteran with a decade of experience in sales management in the NBA and NFL, addresses the industry to consider a leadership approach that puts people first, followed by purpose and performance. We hope you'll watch the video (Find your WHY) in preparation to help your employees find purpose.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

On Wednesday, Dr. Darryl Lehnus and I present, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: What a Decade of S3 Graduates (2006-2017) has taught us." We've seen plenty of success from graduates. Yet, at the same time, we observe what everyone else in pro sports sees compared to other industries: high sales turnover. Break-out sessions will seek creative solutions and produce concrete, measurable goals for S3 LEAD (Leadership in Education, Advancement & Development) Certification to identify organizations making the necessary adjustments to effectively manage this generation of employees.

Facing the Future

We conclude the meetings by looking forward. Mike Cantrell, Solutions by Text, helps teams and organizations communicate with fans the way they communicate with everyone else. What does that look like in your sales force? Paul Cathcart, IBM Global Services, demonstrates the future of the business of sports and sports partnerships when smart stadiums meet smart people with smart phones.
