How Do You Like Them Apples?

Apple changed the industry back then, Apple is changing the game even now. Yesterday, at WWDC 23, the tech giant dropped some massive announcements that have the potential to disrupt various industries at once.

Vision Pro was the cynosure of all eyes at the event. A VR headset that has transcended the boundary of virtuality and shows digital content to users as if it exists in the physical world. This ground-breaking technology was a big blow to Meta’s Quest 3, announced last week. The fact is, the latter stands nowhere close to Apple’s Vision Pro.

The next-big-thing at the event was the unveiling of M2 Ultra. With a powerful 24-core CPU, it outperforms its predecessor, M2 Max, doubling the performance and raising the bar for processing power. The M2 Ultra's graphics capabilities are equally impressive, with a 76-core GPU that delivers a remarkable 30% increase in speed compared to M1 Ultra.

Meanwhile, the event brought in another exciting announcement — the R1. This specialised chip is designed for real-time sensor processing, catering to the needs of the onboard sensors. On software-end, Apple announced its latest iOS 17 update that enhances keyboard intelligence, promising an improved typing experience for iPhone users. The keyboard now incorporates a SOTA transformer language model, greatly enhancing word prediction accuracy.?

Apple also launched macOS 14, the latest version of its desktop operating system. The new OS will have widgets, a feature borrowed from the mobile side of Apple’s ecosystem. Similar new announcements were made for the Safari browser, Gaming, Airpods, Apple Watch and Health App.?

The company came prepared, armed with sophisticated technology to battle the entire tech ecosystem. It will be interesting to see the tech game evolve hereon.?

India will have SpaceX Too

After opening foreign direct investment (FDI) in different sectors such as retail and defence, the Indian government is now planning to allow 100% FDI in the space sector. It’s expected that India will allow FDI between 49-100% in three areas — sub-system manufacturing, launch vehicle operations, and satellite operations and establishments.

Experts say that the foreign funding will help Indian players get a more competitive edge against global players such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Jeff Bezoz’s Blue Origin.
