How Do You Keep Yourself On Track?
These days with all of the electronic disturbances from cell phones, computers, etc., it can be difficult if not downright impossible to stay focused. Not to mention landline phones in the office and/or well-meaning coworkers. And I for one am fighting age. I am just not as sharp as I used to be. The good thing is I know it and try to compensate for it. Some of the things I do to stay on track are:
- Establish goals for the day, week, month, year and write them down, but more importantly refer to them. Some of the things I am tracking right now are sales related activities, phone calls, emails, booth and exhibitor sales numbers and comparing them to last year. I utilize good old notepads and/or calendars.
- Utilize electronic calendars to send yourself a reminder to do a task. Some of the things I put in my electronic calendar are appointments and time off that affect my coworkers and reminders to charge/bill exhibitors and family birth dates.
- Utilize post-it notes to track "right now" reminders. Some of the things I have in my office right now on post-its are my manifest list (a list of all the great things I believe will happen for me and the ones I love. The first step to achievement of a goal is belief you will reach it. I believe the power of a positive attitude can affect every area of your life in a good way.
