Step up, the time is now

I was recently asked, how do you handle the stress that comes with being a startup founder?

Here was my answer:

1. Love What You Are Doing

You need to love what you are doing – the problem that you are solving. Without that, the journey is too hard. As a startup founder, you really need to put your heart and soul out there, and it's not necessarily the easiest way to make money, especially compared to being a high-paid executive. So, you better love that journey.

2. Love Who You Are Doing It For

You need to love the people that you are serving. When you have one month of runway in the bank, can't close that round, and the fundraising climate is tough, you need to have that deep belief that what you're building is transformative and amazing for your customers, and that you will get there.

3. Love Yourself and Practice Self-Care

As a startup founder, it's essential to take care of yourself to continue being that energy source for everybody else. Each of us has to listen to ourselves and do what we need to do in order to not burn out. Loving the people you are working with is critical. One of your key roles is to be an energy booster for everyone else in the organization. Everyone else is connected to your pipes, and you need to continue to drive that energy through the whole organization, even when things are really tough.

4. Love Who You Are Doing It With

Building strong, positive relationships with your team members is essential for creating a supportive and successful work environment. Your team is what will make growth possible.

By focusing on loving what you do, loving who you do it for, taking care of yourself, and loving who you do it with, startup founders can maintain the energy and focus to navigate the challenges of building a successful company.

Avoid FOUR Mistakes To Launch A Successfully ?? Moving From Corporate To Startup

For many seasoned corporate executives dreaming of entrepreneurial success, the shift to the startup world brings unanticipated challenges. Leveraging your corporate experience can set the stage for a flourishing startup, but there are pitfalls that derail even the most seasoned professionals. For this tailored eWebinar, I'm joined by Ewa Lewandowska as we explore how to successfully navigate this exciting yet daunting journey.

Here's The Lowdown

Transitioning from a corporate environment to the startup ecosystem requires more than just enthusiasm and industry know-how. It demands a strategic reorientation of skills and expectations to match the dynamic, often unpredictable world of startups. While your corporate experience provides a strong foundation, missteps in this new arena can be costly.

What To Do

Understand and Adapt. First, appreciate that the methodologies and structures in corporate settings don't directly translate to the startup environment. Startups thrive on agility and adaptability, not just established processes.

Keep Connected. Don’t sever ties with your corporate networks; these relationships can provide mentorship, advice, and even customer leads that are crucial in the early stages of your startup.

Open Communication. Promoting your venture is vital—keeping your startup a secret limits your opportunities. Visibility can attract collaborators, investors, and early adopters.

Get The Right Team for the Right Reasons. Hiring for a startup is fundamentally different from corporate hiring. Look for versatility and a shared entrepreneurial spirit rather than just expertise in a narrow field.

Get Your Mind Right. Recognize that building a startup is about nurturing a business. Avoid getting caught up in the 'startup hype' and focus on sustainable business practices.
