How do you give back?

How do you give back?

These days every business has a CSR policy, as each company plays their part in being Socially Responsible, at The Highfield Company we are no exception.

In January 2018 we announced our new charity initiative, where instead of donating to a major charity or project as we have in the past, we decided to make things personal; each employee was given the opportunity to donate to the charity of their choice once they have hit their annual target.

Whilst the business gives in our name, we in turn are asked to donate 12 hours of our time each year to a charitable cause. You may have seen my colleagues conquering their fear of heights as they abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower or pushing themselves on the Golf Course to play a non-stop 72 holes in 15 hours. So what’s next?

In October 2016 I was part of a team that completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £1500 for the Rainbow Trust and in 2017 we took on the Surrey Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis Research, completing the 42 mile hike in just over 15 hours.

This year is another big yomp, with The Highfield Company team tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks. The route is 24 miles and includes 1585m of ascent, covering the Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, in under 12 hours.

This time we shall be raising money for Rock 2 Recovery, an organisation that work with veterans affected by Mental Health issues, their mission is to save and change the lives of those in our Armed Forces, our veteran community and their families who are affected by stress.

As our training schedule progresses and the challenge draws closer I’ll post further updates, but for now I simply wanted to ask about your story; How do you give back?
