A Gartner survey indicates that by the end of 4Q23,?approximately 36%?of ECC customers had bought licenses to start their?transition?to SAP S/4HANA and only 27% were live with their new system.
Consequently, the existing IT landscape, consisting of SAP products (e.g. ECC) possibly interfaced with third party tools, altogether supporting the EAM processes, must be maintained and hopefully properly used.
The challenge for companies in this context is then to extract the best of this current “SAP Ecosystem”, sometimes for many years.
Different strategies can be foreseen:
?? “Do Nothing”: don’t touch what’s working!!!
?? “Core Modify”: deep dive with ABAPers to modify the core code of SAP and introduce the missing features in the existing release, hoping to close the gaps…
? ?“Sustain & Improve”: continuously monitor the health of the ecosystem and take opportunities of standard SAP capabilities (BAPIs, user exits) or new Enhancement Packs (EhP) to unlock useful new features.
??? Other?
And you? What do you think? Which strategy would you recommend?
Start sharing your experience here awaiting fruitful discussions in Porto!
