How do you explain Web3/Metaverse to a common man?

1/ For starters, most people confuse Metaverse with Multiverse.

Reason?

Multiverse Theory is something which we have grown up hearing in geography classes. Its an astronomical concept which is talks about more than one universe.

Metaverse != Mutliverse?

2/ To understand the concept of Metaverse we need to dig in the basics of Digital Interactions on Social Networks.

How interactions were in different phases:

- Web 1

- Web 2

- Web 3

3/ What was?#web1?

When internet first came into existence it was much different and not immersive at all.

It was just one-way communication.

You'd go to a website like?Wikipedia.com?and read an article.

There wasn't a way to express yourself.

4/ What was?#web2?

It started with the advent of social network.

Yahoo Chatrooms, Orkut Scrap Posts were the pioneer of this era.

They brought a digital community where I can share a photo and other people can talk/respond about it.

5/ The capacity to dialogue/expression in digital sphere was started.

Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, etc explored other ways to enhance this two-way communication and turn it into multi-way communication.

Many people can be part of an concert, conference, study groups, hobby sessions, etc.

But even here

we are communicating amongst us humans.

6/ Now , web3 is taking it to the "next level" (cliche alert)

?#Metaverse?will be a virtual world where an individual's virtual subconscious comes into "life".

A collection of tech will provide an enhanced virtual experience of physical reality:

- VR

- Blockchain

- Machine Learning

- Artificial Intelligence

- NLP

- Advance Analytics

"a virtual reality world where users can interact, game and experience things as they would in the real world. Using current AR and VR tech, they can immerse into this world and interact with overlaying objects and people"

7/ So what does it mean for a common man?

Metaverse is a virtual world, which will have our AI subconscious which will do some tasks for us in the real world.

Think of it like having your own personal Alexa , Siri

Movie *Her*?is an example of it.

8/ Tasks could be like this :

a) Now almost all listed companies have their virtual townhall and shareholders meeting.

b) Let's say on the stipulated date / time the you have a conflict or are busy with some other household work.

c) You'll ask your personal AI subconscious to attend the shareholder meeting on your behalf. (The AI has to either listen the English recording OR read the transcript ie NLP)

d) Later on the AI would summarise the meeting for you.

Or

A legal research associate will ask the AI SUBCONSCIOUS to go through the past fillings and cases to find corresponding references.

Possibilities are endless.

9/ Challenge is currently every company is working on their *own* Metaverse

We need to figure out a way to break these virtual walls or

Develop a?#virtualPassport?#digiPort?to allow entry in different virtual ecosystems

10/ Think of it as you can use your favourite rifle from Counter Strike Condition Zero even in other First Person Shootout Games like FarCry or Halos.

This capability is still some years away. Things will start with movement of "items" within the same game i.e. Version 1 & version N

Operability within a franchise i.e. Weapons of Batman Arkham City could be used in Arkham Knight / Origins.

To achieve this interoperability and achieve the trustless functionality of these different "worlds" NFT & Crypto Tokens would come into play and work as currency for transactions done between different?#metaverse
