How Do You Define Success?
Today is already a success.
Though I’ve followed the science many places, to the breakfast table isn’t normally one of those places.
Despite how many well meaning people have harped about the need and benefits of eating breakfast, I don’t make it a habit of following their advice.
“Why don’t you eat breakfast?” those well meaning people often ask.
“Because I’m not hungry when I wake up” is my response.
Despite the data and analytics the well meaning people often use to support their case, I’ve to-date preferred the wisdom of an ancient Native American saying when it comes to food.
That saying is, ”When hungry, eat. When tired, rest.”
But not this morning.
This morning I awoke to a pain in my toe which I’ve (unfortunately) come to recognize as the on-set feelings of gout.
Thus I knew the instant I woke up I needed to change something in my diet.

Taking some advice from my ole man, along with breakfast I decided to add another addition to this morning’s routine. His advice was to drink something warm when you first wake up.
Despite thinking coffee drinkers are masochists with no respect for thier taste buds, I added a cup of coffee (with lots of creamer) to this morning’s disruption.
*Correction* a 2nd cup of coffee. I spilt the first one all over the floor after a dog jumped up and their head just so happen to hit the bottom of the hand I was holding coffee in.
True to form, I grabbed the steak seasoning I previously should have put away but didn’t (seen pictured) instead of pepper, but when the flakes were too big and not sticking to the egg, I then realized what I was holding in my hand and made the proper correction.
I also like the Carolina Reaper sitting just in front of my attempt to force feed myself breakfast. It’s a reminder that I may not what the day holds and that something which could light a fire in my soul (good or bad) may be on the horizon.
So with the spilt coffee, the mistaken steak seasoning for pepper, or the Carolina Reapers reminding me of the unknowns that lie ahead, I’m still crushing it and feeling on top of the world. The devil tried his curve balls and anxiety is always lurking to worry us about what’s around the bend, yet for today I am already a winner.
There’s a lesson in here somewhere, and I think that lesson which applies to all is…
Despite whatever milk is spilt along the way, you can & will overcome; come what may, you can and will win.
The picture serves as evidence.
