How Do You Deal With Difficult Situations?
"Be anxious for nothing...and the peace of God... will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
Something will stir the waters and rock your boat at any point in time. Sometimes, you'll be able to hold steady until there's calm. Sometimes you will have to scoop water out to keep things dry. Sometimes, the boat will be upturned and you'll end up in the water.
A little storm can get you discouraged and choose to row back to shore. But if the reason you're out at sea is strong enough, you'll weather the storm.
Motivation is a strong factor that influences how you react when work doesn't go your way. I have been in situations where I bailed because I didn't have the motivation to continue. There are other situations where I looked crazy standing my ground.
Before you take a new job, start a new business or even accept a new role, make an attempt to assess how motivated you are about it. It doesn't matter how juicy the offer is, you'll eventually know where you stand when troubled times come. Don't wait till then to find out.
If the situation demands that you quit, then do it. If it demands that you stay, then stay. But let your decisions be influenced by your beliefs and values so that you are comfortable with the consequences in future.
If you feel much anxiety after making a decision, examine the decision to be sure you made it in congruence with your beliefs and values. This is why Paul says that we involve God in every situation. Involving Him gives you the confidence that if you quit or stay, you'll be fine.
As you rely on human wisdom in decision-making, seek divine wisdom. That storm will pass.
