While – yes, you will continuously need and want to prove yourself to clients and customers – you can build customer loyalty by
Investing in the #relationship
Adding #value, even when it’s free (especially when it’s free)
Be their advocate within your organization – evangelize for them with #leadership and others who can provide direction, insight or incentives
#Negotiate transparently and in good faith
You will be shopped around, and customers will absolutely do what they deem right by their organization, but you can control how you establish and nurture the relationship.
I’ve introduced the competition when needed.
Customers have told me they have paid more to work with me because they know I will always respond, even when I have to seek out the answer.
In sports, they call the lesser praised metrics “the hustle stats” – assists, steals; things that contributed to the win but don’t show up on SportsCenter.
If you can master the customer hustle stats – response, availability, interesting insights, legitimate care – you can earn their trust and loyalty.
