The Oracle of Delphi is not a lie: Know Thyself is one of the necessary steps to both self-fulfillment and discovering your inner spirituality. Speaking from personal experience, I first came to become aware of the nature of my own ego and even connected with the an all-encompassing loving source during meditation. I was not trying to achieve this state of bliss, but it happened accidentally, after some months of personal turmoil and struggle. And let me tell you, once you hit that sweet spot of consciousness, the entire world becomes magical.
Therefore I would recommend that you meditate, because that is one of the most efficient and practical ways to achieve altered or deep states of consciousness. Once you are in these deep theta level states, contemplate the nature of your mind and body and spirit. Think of your own inner nature as being another cosmos inside of you as being the cosmonaut on an adventure. Keep questioning everything (because almost everything in this world is maya), keep pushing your consciousness to higher limits, and don’t become too discouraged by modern society and culture.
The journey to know yourself is one of the most sacred and tantalizing ones that the human heart can follow, since what you will ultimately uncover is that you are the universe. I wish you all the best on your journey. Love and light. The 'Real you' is a term that gets thrown around a lot - especially in the world I work in personal development of people. Other coaches are always talking about how you have to find 'The Real You' and live 'The Real You' as a solution to life's issues and challenges. The most common definition of 'The Real You' that seems to be you is 'Who you would be without your doubts, fears, or insecurities.' Whilst this seems great on the surface and definitely works for some, for me, it's inadequate. Why are your doubts, insecurities, and fears, any less real than your desires, hopes and dreams?
For me, you can't just lump one set of personal characteristics into a 'Not the real you' category whilst leaving all the ones you like in another pile. They're one and the same, especially seeing as your hopes and dreams are typically driven by your fears and insecurities...Think about it - if you grew up in a war torn country, constantly fearing violence, pain, or even death, what will be your greatest dream?
Whilst it's impossible to know, I'd be willing to bet it's got something to do with living in peace, safety, harmony, and love. All because you have of the fear you've experienced. So if 'the real you' isn't you without your doubts, insecurities and fears, what is it? For me, it's the 'you' that exists without your logical mind getting in the way. It's that gut level response and reaction that occurs in real-time as you live your life. It's the fear and the doubt and the excitement and the happiness and the confusion and the power and the loneliness and everything else that happens in the present moment as you live your life.
It's the 'you' that exists without your mind getting in your way. That's what's real about you - your instinctive responses as you live your life. It's who you would be if you were just being real in every moment. Now, the thing about this definition is that it raises another question: what if I don't like the real me? That's fine. The 'Real You' isn't a fixed and static entity. It's a flowing, moving, changing beast that can be shaped into any form you want, when you know what you're doing.
The real you is not something you find in the outside world. Its already inside you waiting to come out. You don't to do anything to find it except stop getting your own way by hiding it keeping it locked up. The key to this is developing courage in the face of fear. The masks we wear and the personas we create only serve to protect us from the fear of revealing our vulnerability to others that would have the power to exploit us and cause harm. You have to first summon the courage to let down your defenses before your true self can be expressed.
You might get judge or criticized or hurt in the process but it will not destroy you. If you stop seeking to avoid that pain you will learn that it is far more rewarding to focus on pursuing what you love. You will not be afraid to try new things. You will not be afraid to take on different roles and identities. You will not become attached to any one specific aspect of who you might be in one situation. You will be free to be whoever you want.
Personally I think the inner me is whole and complete. My inner me does not have characteristics male/female, good/bad, tall/short, able/disabled, working/not working. It is the me at birth , me through my life and me at my death. The inner me is in the driving seat; finds out what vehicle it is driving, learns to drive and makes decisions about when, why, and how to drive. The inner me is not there to judge but remains, supports and guides through life. Many people think of ‘me' as a description of characteristics which adapt and change.
But the Self Concept the organized consistent conceptual gestalt composed of perceptions of the characteristics of 'I' or 'me' and the perceptions of the relationships of the 'I' or 'me' to others and to various aspects of life, together with the values attached to these perceptions. It is a gestalt which is available to awareness though not necessarily in awareness. It is a fluid and changing gestalt, a process, but at any given moment it is a specific entity. You are not your property. You are not your wealth. You are not your position in life or the title afforded you. You are what burns within. Evil or good, that which motivates you to help or not, achieve or not, serve or not, love or not is who you really are and it is the actual truth that exists for you.
Power… Real Power, is knowing that regardless of your station in life, nobody can take anything of real value from you. Your integrity is yours, as well as your love, humanity, dignity, spirituality, honor, resolve, aspirations, fortitude, virtue, hope, charity and benevolence. Destroy your property, crush your ego, steal your wealth, infect your body, limit your progress and yet you will come off triumphant; because through it all, in the end, your power remains, your sole is intact and your smile continues to radiate to the joy of all who perceive. Cheers!

3 年Hi Kishore, Rightly said so. Nobody can take away anything from you without your permission, consent, agreement, acceptance, willingness etc. Similarly they cannot give you anything without all the above adjectives. Thus, you are a power to your own self and nobody can snatch it. Although, unknowingly these things do happen like suddenly, you are the owner of some huge ancestral property, handed down to you as you are in line of hierarchy, or sole survivor. It is these moments that test your patience, tolerance, need and greed. Similarly if you have a hereditary disease that runs through the family, you may also carry that disease till the day it is erased by nature. One prime example in history is hemophilia (blood does not clot) that ran in the British royal family for generations. Today, there is some cure for this medical condition, but prevalent in many families across the world. Thus, as far as possible you cannot be hurt without your consent, nor can you do the same to others. As far as inheritance is concerned it is your attitude that decides what to do and how to handle the same.
