How do you add some style to your new Pixel?

Earlier this month, Google released its new Pixel and Pixel XL phones and now they are available in India as well. The new name for the phones is indicative of the philosophical break from the past and the previous series of Google Nexus branded devices. Unlike past Nexus devices that were just rebranded phones from the likes of HTC, Huawei or Samsung, the new Pixel phones are apparently designed by Google itself.

However, some eagle-eyed smartphone enthusiasts will point out the the Pixel phones are loosely based on previous HTC One hardware. That apart, the new Pixel phones are also the first time that Google has gone ahead and made a truly no-compromises device with flagship specs and a premium price. Previous Nexus branded devices were always great value for money but they had middling hardware, so-so specs and often infatuating compromises like terrible cameras.

The Pixel changes everything.

All of this changes, with the new Pixel phones. They have arguably competitive specs with any other flagship phone near the end of 2016. Despite the fact that they don't have optical image stabilisation, the Pixels have a camera that is as good as the new iPhone 7, which is widely considered to be the best in the business. The only real problem with the Pixel phones is their somewhat uninspiring design.

Google has never been known for its great design chops and the Pixels have an unimaginative design to complement their boring official name which is “Pixel: Phone by Google”. There are also a few weird quirks to the design that do not make sense, like the huge chin on the phone, which is totally unnecessary when the fingerprint sensor is actually on the back of the device. All of these are just niggles but for people who care about stuff like this there is an answer.

This solves probably what is the only real shortcoming of the new Pixel phone.
