How Do You Actually Start To Breathe In, Decide And Move when You're in the Middle of a Problem?

Yesterday, we talked about breathing in, deciding and then moving.

But the next question now is, how do I start moving?

What steps should I do next?

And how can I stop worrying and enjoy life if I don’t know how to move and what move to make?

Let’s say, you've got your utility bill due in 2 weeks and you don't have any money to pay for it.

You’re restless.

Every night, you wake up past midnight, anxious and close to agitated, feeling each hour pass closer to the deadline.

Your stomach is constantly upset as you think of what's going to happen next.

You’ve called your sister for the nth time asking to help you out but she tells you that she doesn’t have any extra to help you out.

The following day, you see her IG post eating out with her kids.

You don’t hit like.

You feel betrayed.

You can see the bill, the disconnection notice which you posted so nicely on your fridge to remind you that the house would be pitch dark in less than 2 weeks.

Your mind starts thinking of so many things. Hundreds of thoughts per second.

What would the neighbors say?

What am I going to tell the kids?

How are we supposed to sleep?

And hundreds of other thoughts and questions.

===========================

"What am I supposed to do?!?!"

===========================

Step back. Breathe in. Decide. Move.

Step back:

Take your mind off the problem.

You’ve been focusing too much on the problem that you’ve already magnified it exponentially.

Do something else. Anything as long as it doesn’t deal with the problem.

I recommend walking. Alone.

Breathe in:

Don’t think of anything.

Just focus on your walking and just breathe. Take it all in.

If that big disconnection notice starts to creep into your thoughts, start to run as fast as you can.

That would somehow take your mind off that darn bill.

Decide:

Tell yourself that you will pay that bill before its due date.

Now write down your solutions.

If you need to sell your old clothes, so be it.

If you need to ask friends and officemates to buy packed lunches from you, then do it.

If you can tutor your neighbors' kids, do it!

Don't think of what people would say.

Their opinions don’t matter.

Opinions can’t pay the bills.

Now stop thinking and start moving!

Step back. Breathe in. Decide. And Move.

Now I've applied this to a lot of problems other than bills and it works. :)

Now it's your turn.

Better yet, share this with a friend.
