How do you achieve digital transformation?

It’s on the forefront of every leading executive’s agenda: Digital Transformation. How do I make my organization more competitive, more efficient, and more profitable? Over the past decade, this has largely meant cost reduction programs across operations and IT. Centers of excellence became the buzz-word for low-cost locations and offshoring. While cost containment is very important to an organization’s financial viability, it is not a strategy.  Furthermore, there are obvious limits before the adverse consequences begin to outweigh the benefits.  And then what do you do?   Your competition has the same ability to shift their labor and change their cost structure as you do. Functionalization has replaced process alignment, and business autonomy has given way to inflexible policies and procedures. Managing your onshore/offshore ratio became a guiding metric over delivering business outcomes.

What if your organization focused on operational excellence instead of cost reduction? If you applied a manufacturing engineering discipline to the design of your business process and information structures? What if you understood and designed for the operational variability of the global business ecosystem that you now compete in? By definition, the transformed organization that you are moving toward doesn’t exist. Therefore, it can’t be described, it must be prescribed. It must be designed and design requires a design discipline.

Design conquers complexity. Ignoring today’s complexity and oversimplifying your operations only leads to flawed requirements, project overruns, and costly rework. Constant motion is not the same as progress. HCG offers a 4-day Digital Transformation Design training that equips organizations with the needed design skills required to deliver your business transformation.

"Design conquers complexity". I cannot agree more Ed and I'm a huge fan of how you look at problems holistically to come up with the best possible design!
