How do we revive the old relations?

How do we revive the old relations?

In the last article we discussed about the concept of Sambandh Gyan. On the same note, as we grow in the life we make many friends. Some friends stay as it is and some vanish with the influence of time. Yet everyone cherishes to go back to the good old days if those old days had created a healthy and delightful experience. Similarly, our association with the supreme god is time immemorial. Being part of parcel of the god, we can not sustain in an environment which is temporary and not our natural habitat. One such example is of a fish. In spite of providing a nice food and upbringing outside the water, the fish can not survive. It has to be put back into the water for its own wellbeing. Similarly, our natural and original home was the spiritual world where we were directly serving the supreme lord. But due to the envy, we were given the material world to enjoy independently. The material world is a place wherein we can act according to our mundane desires. But there are infinite pains and troubles in this world which force us to think about our very existence. However, god being our eternal father, made sure that we do not end up staying in this material world by going through all the pain and anxiety. In fact, for the same reason he enabled the path of spirituality and especially Bhakti Yoga by which we can enter into the realm of spiritual world again.

The process of going back to godhead is a simple but yet a difficult one if we are not suitable for following it. Let's understand it through some practical example. We generally see kids doing all tantrums when doctor prescribes a particular medicine. Still, as a parent we need to make sure that the kids consume the bitter medicines so that they get healed timely. The path of Bhakti(devotional service) Yoga is like taking a bitter medicine. The only difference is that it seems bitter but from inside it is as sweet as nectarian honey. Both the process and the experience are sublime and everlasting in the process of bhakti. In fact if you taste the happiness of holy name(part of Bhakti Yoga), our life becomes purposeful and content. Let's deep dive and explore the process of reviving a lost relationship with the supreme lord Shri Krishna.

As per the timeless vedic wisdom of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita, we can understand that we are eternal servant of the Lord Krishna. It is the first and primary step which explains us the importance of Sambhadh Gyan(our relationship with the god). The same book explains the second stage of the Bhakti Yoga, which is, "How can we revive the relationship with the god again? and How can we act according to this principle?". This step is called as Abhidhey Gyan by the Vaishnav(follower of Lord Vishnu or Krishna) Acharyas(one who teaches by his/her own example). One must perform Sadhna Bhakti or prescribed duties to achieve eternal service to the supreme personality of godhead. This concept is explained through various verses in Shrimad Bhagvad Gita.

Bg. 10.10

????? ???????????? ????? ?????????????? ? ????? ?????????? ?? ??? ??????????? ?? ?

To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

Bg. 10.11

???????????????????????????? ??: ? ??????????????????? ?????????? ??????? ?

To show them special mercy, I, dwelling in their hearts, destroy with the shining lamp of knowledge the darkness born of ignorance.

Both these verses put an emphasis on the process of devotional service. If we serve Lord Krishna constantly with love and devotion, he also reciprocates with the same proportion. In fact Lord Krishna helps us if we desire to serve him. He stays in everyone's heart as paramatma(super soul which is different from soul). Thus, he is always ready to help us and guide us within our hearts. People may feel that the process of Bhakti Yoga is tough. But on contrary, it is quite simple. In addition to that, the best thing is that anyone and everyone can practice the art of Bhakti Yoga and achieve Lord's eternal service.

Let us follow the path recommended by Lord Krishna through the science of Bhakti Yoga mentioned in Shrimad Bhagvad Gita. As the manufacturer give the user manual with the product we buy so that the we can use it and fulfill the purpose, Lord Krishna who is the creator of all living entities has also given us a life manual in the form of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita. Following it we can surely achieve the purpose of the life which is the ultimate goal and the 3rd step of spirituality, Prayojan Gyan. It simply answers us an important question of life, "What will we get in return if we serve Lord Krishna?". Stay tuned for the next article in which we will ponder upon the Prayojan Gyan through the lens of Shrimad Bhagvad Gita.
